Your small simple border looks much better than my textured frame. It almost overpowers the image. Yes, I was surprised by the sharpness at that f/stop. Sometimes we get lucky. |

A border does help dark images show up better on our web page. But I started playing around and came up with this textured border. It was fun and a good learning experience. |

My eye keeps coming to that lovely curve of the lights in the center. So, following Walter's suggestion to crop out the McDonalds sign, I cropped from the right also. Your exposure and focus are spot on for a difficult situation. There are many possible images in this scene. Hope you took a lot of pictures. Were you shooting through a window? If so, this is even better because the glass affects both focus and exposure. I tried photographing our Main Street with Christmas decorations, but headlights were just too overpowering. Very nice. |

Very nice. Kudos for having the patience to wait for the pedestrian. That lifts the image from record shot to something to ponder. It also gives scale to the artwork. Yes, the red shirt is fortuitous. The man's positioning in the frame is perfect; the position of his legs shows motion. That is much better than having someone 'pose' in that spot. |

Oh, Walter, what a backdrop to your main street! This is one image that probably should not be flipped (even though the compositions itself is better). There are signs that will show up as mirror writing. Also, this is a recognizable scene. People familiar with the street will instantly know that something is amiss. All Main Streets have stop lights, signs, trash cans, etc. If we remove these things, we don't tell the true story of the street. Nice job. |

Barbara's cropping is an improvement on an already good image. You have a good eye to catch this image on a rush trip. I would probably add a polarizing filter (NIK Color Effects) to darken the sky, but that's personal preference, not a criticism. Did anyone ever see these windmills up close? They are HUGE! |

Yes, I would agree with Barbara to crop out the truck on the right. Otherwise, it is a very good shot; balance with foreground and background, interesting sky, beautiful reflections, nice positioning of the lamp posts, very good exposure in a tricky lighting situation. Thanks for the other images showing the whole scene. Hey, just for fun - try the "Original 2" shot at night with a backlight on the sculpture to separate it from the dark background. It might not work, but nothing wasted. |
