12 May 17 Reply Ah, yes. As I am no gardener, the poor shamrock plant gave its life for this photo. May 22nd
12 May 17 Reply Aha! The problem is the lens. I thought you were too good to make a focus error. May I borrow your idea for Camera Club? May 22nd
12 May 17 Comment Repairing PC's, chess, at least 2 dictionaries - you have a very eclectic collection, Walter. I bet in the old film days you mixed your own chemicals. Kerstin's fantasy filter makes the collection look like it came from Harry Potter's shelves. (I love Harry Potter.) May 22nd
12 May 17 Reply Oh wow! That is so much better! Thank you. May 14th
12 May 17 Comment Wow! Let's all please try this at home! We have a program on Public Television called "Masterpiece Theater." The opening graphic is an animated B&W drawing of the pages of a book riffling. It is a beautiful and graceful image. Your interpretation is even better. The area of critical focus seems to be on the clover blossom at the upper left corner of the book. Otherwise, this is perfect. May 12th
12 May 17 Comment Good job filling in the windows. After reading your 'How I did it' I said, "Really? I can't tell." Did the building have that blue tint, or did you add it? Either way, it's perfect. The composition and cropping are very good - an great example of when to center an image. Is the building an old library? May 12th
12 May 17 Comment I, too, wish the titles could be read. Book collections are as diverse as their owners. We have books in every room in the house. I find wide angle shots challenging; I get a lot of distortion. Your angle, exposure, and composition are perfect. May 12th
12 May 17 Comment Oh, Gavin, what a lovely image. Yes, it is grainy, it probably should have a deeper depth of field, the lower left corner just barely keeps within the image. But the mood is perfect. This looks the way I feel when reading a wonderful old classic. All of those things above plus the warm tint suggest the reverence a real reader finds in good books. Which tool in NIK Color Effects did you use? May 12th
12 May 17 Comment Now I can see that this is, indeed, a 2-page spread. The photos don't look crowded. You're paying for the whole page; might as well fill it up. The colors on the layout blend well together. The photos are very good. One tip for photo books: while they allow you to design the layout online, you should keep a copy of each page yourself. We did a 100-page book of the works of a local artist. The book was a big hit; she sold about 150 copies. But the company was bought out, and they lost all my files. We could probably sell more, but have no way to duplicate the original. I'd love to see your whole book because the sample images are beautiful. May 12th
