31 Jan 17 Reply Hi Anu!

Thank you! I am glad to be with you all in group. Happy new year to you! Now it's more clear for me. Idea about contrasts " The geometric pattern of the table contrasted with the rounded shapes of the glass. And contrast round shade of glass on table" for me was clear from first moment. )))

What I introduced a little confusing, it is active zones and objects in the area of the upper left corner with hands and a long-range plan in the upper right area with peple and bright white umbrella. Handrail created framing image structure with three active areas and objects. Handrail rack creates a composition dichotomy between the upper area of picture and divide it in two with one big area with main object and main contrast idea. For me, there are three really active areas. But this is only my opinion and taste. Image requests from the viewer to ask questions. And it's excellent! Thank you

31 Jan 17 Comment Hi Anu!

I would be happy to share my impressions with you about your picture. I view photographic images in two stages. The first stage - sensitive and subjective. The second stage - a systematic approach, based on photographic composition criteria.

For first stage my personal impression about your image raises for me a lot of questions and mystery as John already said. I need more information and description from you.

Please, if you can, answer this questions for me:
1. What this photograph about?
2. How you have focused attention on your subject and draw the viewer's eye to it?
3. Have you simplified? Have you included only what draws attention to your subject? Have you eliminated everything that is non-essential or distracting?

After that i will go to stage two. )))

31 Jan 17 Reply Hi Paul!

Thank you for your review! I apologize in advance, my English is not so perfect as I would like to. I hope that what I have written will be clear to everyone.

Little bit more about "how i did it". I used a camera fujifilm x100. I tuned in to the hyperfocal lens distance, that I should not be distracted with anything, except the frame and what is happening in it. F/5.6 and ISO 1600, 1/250 (was perfect to freezing main object and also perfect to not freezing a ball and impact moment with billiard cue). Post processing. Everything was done in Lightroom. I converted the image into BW, to minimize the activity of color accents. Added little vignette, but very carefully. Visible grain (I like it) - is the specific noise (ISO 1600 in low light cond) of fujifilm cameras and ,perhaps, because I was added a little exposure, about 0.5.

31 Jan 17 Comment Hi Paul!

Incredibly sensual and candid portrait. Just real! The eyes - universe is simple, where you can be drowned. Details, bw style, reflections ... And this punctum - fly on the eyelid of the left eye. There are no words, I just enjoy what I see. Nothing to add Paul! Than you very much!

31 Jan 17 Comment Hi John!

Great scape shot. Good bw tonality for me. I like this heavy sky that you have capture. I like texture of rocks on first plan. From my point of view, maybe i would reduced the contrast a bit to keep the plasticity of the image structure and highlight a little deep shadows on first plan. But this is only for my taste. Thank you, John!

31 Jan 17 Comment Hi Ella!

Wonderful shot with the good graphic image structure. Paris mood is captured clearly. I agree with colleagues that the presence of people (just a figures with tonal contrast, no need even a details) in the frame would have increased the overall value of the image composition. But now your picture asis well done. I like interesting texture that you have made in this picture. Thank you!

I have nothing to add. It's a monumental and strong landscape masterpiece. The tone and the transitions of BW, lines, composition is simply amazing. Thank you Peter!

31 Jan 17 Reply Hi, Peter!

I am very glad that I had become a member of our group. And I will be glad to get acquainted with all the participants.
I will consider the remark at future about - "to place a white stroke around the image to define the boundaries". Really very handy for a black page background. Thank you Peter for your review of my picture!

31 Jan 17 Comment Hi, Ian!

I am sure that many of us are faced with similar situations during shooting. The main thing that everything ended well. You have made a wonderful picture. Good multiplane poly-center composition. Objects size contrast on different planes. At first sight your picture arouses interest for me by the main object and mood. I experienced a sense of some resemblance to the classical pictorial composition of nautical theme. I agree with Peter and Paul about to flip the image horizontally. Left side of image more strong for viewer. The main object of the first plan immediately takes the attention as it should. What I would like to add. I would not divide the picture in half by the horizon line. I would stepped closer to the main object. Chose more wider lens angle - 24 mm. Compose a shot a little under another point of view to show the shape of the objects of medium and long-range plan, there are an interesting vessels as a counterpoints for main vessel on first plan. But this all for my taste. Overall, well done. Thank you for aesthetic pleasure!
