I see what Elizabeth is saying about the fence but the bell tower is vertical which is more important to my eye |

I would agree that technically the processing is a mess so one thing I would think about if it were mine would be is the image worth the work. are you most interested in the post-processing issues or for the sake of discussion would you like to talk about is the image worth it. If you would like to discuss that, my first question would be what would you like the viewer to take away from this scene. Give me (the viewer) that info and I will respond to that and see what we can get out of it. |

I really like the reflection right across the middle of the image. I like the fact that you have 3 Lillies on the right and the greenery 1/3 across the image. Nice job. |

I guess nothing has changed in 2500 years in politics. I don't know what radiance is but the dome looks "fuzzy to me while the writing on the left-hand building is quite sharp. I would think a 17 mm lens at f/11 would have massive depth of field |

I think it was a great idea to chip the ice and give you all a shot of the vodka. To my eye, I see 2 significant elements in the photo and that is the mountain and the cloud in front of it near the summit. The mountain looks quite flat to me so you might consider burning some of the darker areas between the ridges. You would need to vary the amount of burning to make it look real but I think that would increase the sense of 3 dimensionality on the mountain. I would then do whatever I could to separate the cloud from the sky in the background. That may be a bit of a challenge but if you can do it, I think the photo would benefit. |

Hi Raymond,
A very pretty village and a wonderful scene. I like all the diagonal lines which give the image a dynamic feeling with the vertical lines of the bell tower giving a sense of stability or permanence. The image looks underexposed to me but as you bring the exposure up you are likely to lose the early morning orange /pink color the is just showing up in the clouds and the snow. I think that you need to treat the darker and lighter area separately so you get the details in the trees, etc and bring out the morning color developing in the snow and the clouds. I would hope that as you bring up the luminance in the lower areas, the yellows of the flowers in the foreground will come out more. One last suggestion about settings, you are shooting at 400 ISO which reduces the dynamic range of your camera a lot. Since it a landscape and nothing is going to move, you can drop your ISO to the native ISO and just increase the shutter speed |
