Hi Elizabeth,
In answering your question, I will try to explain how I sometimes think of things. First of all what is the subject or what I want to guide my viewer toward. I look at the whole scent as if it were a stage and the primary subject is my lead actor. Then I look at the other elements in the image as the supporting actors. How do I want to draw the viewer to the primary actor. Is it light and bright, selective focus, saturated color and so on. Then how do I handle the supporting actors. They should not upstage the star. Then what other elements are taking away from the scene and primary actor or not adding to it and are superfluous. ( Think busy, white plastic coffee cup on the ground and so on). In my opinion, worrying about people who know the area missing the trees in not valid because if they were there, they would be appreciating the beauty across the river. As far as losing some of the reflection by cropping out the trees, you could crop up as far as you needed while maintaining the reflections then clone out the trees. Hope this helps |

I like your moon position. I was at the end of a pier and couldn't move side to side to get the moon where I wanted it in real time |

I assume in todays world, all the vapor is water vapor as in steam and not "smoke". I hope so. I bet it would be great in B&W and if you wanted to be more menacing, that may be more effective |

Hi Bob,
Sorry to be critical but... For me, this images leaves me wanting more. I really like the idea of this lone tree on the prairie with the snow and mountains in the distance. I feel like the fence is keeping me out of the vista and the possible beauty of the location |

Perfect exposure of the moon wonderful colors, nice placement of the moon. As a second image from the scene, you might try cropping out the bright building on the right with the red lettering on it and cropping out the foreground and having the reflections in the water being the foreground. Worth printing and hanging |

what a wonderful wave and nice point of capture. The area of the wave above the rock seems to have a purple cast to it on my monitor. That sometimes happens to me when I am a little aggressive with the dehaze slider. If you have that option, see if that is the case. If it is and you use photoshop, I can give you a trick to reduce or eliminate it. |

One other thought. I wonder if the little ridge of snow on the edge of the road would enhance the image if it were a bit brighter to imply a curve around the trees. |

Love it Larry, The blues bring out the feeling of cold to support the ice on the trees. The brightness of the trees really works for me as does the vertical mode. |

Hi Elizabeth,
The moon was not enlarged. It was taken with a 600 mm lens with a cropped sensor. I put all my eggs in 1 basket with my set up with the express intent to get the very large moon. As I am sure that you know with your image, the moon moves very fast and even though I thought of it, there was not time to go back to the car to get another setup |
