Thanks Paul,
My thought really was from a commercial view point and I agree that the beam is a little to bright and does take away from the bike, especially since the assignment was for a bike. Yes I have a number of landscapes from this area which is the Fairy Pools in the Isle of Skye |

Clearly I need to get my PS hammer and chisel and create a path. Perhaps a project for another day as I learn new skills |

Larry, are you left handed or right handed and are you left brained or right brained? |

Hey Larry,
Did I miss out on a war sometime in the past DD33 posts or is that related to German U boats in WWII? Or possibly am I seemingly starting one?

Love it Paul. Love the warm late afternoon tones as well as having a good foreground, middle ground and back ground. now, I am gong to beat Larry to the punch regarding reading left to right. If we accept that westerners prefer to read and view left to right, then one might say the tall vertical structure (the light house) might act as a stop for your eyes as you move across the screen. So as a thought, I reversed the image. Now if this was my image, I would hate that because I would know that the view is not possible. Anyway, just something for fun and discussion |

Hi Elizabeth,
I agree with Dan that I love the fog and also the bare branches in the tree but when I downloaded the image, I struggled to make it feel right. I am not sure what to tell you other than there may just be too many elements in the image |

Good Morning Bob,
I love the scene and the feeling. I love diagonals and the diagonals in the barn give me a feeling as if it is a dynamic process of deterioration. I don't agree with Dan about the blocked out black in the windows, I think it gives a sense of danger (the barn might fall on top of you if you entered). Two things to think about (1) clone out the power lines and (2)desaturate the green grass in the foreground. I think that the grass is a supporting element to the barn and as highly saturated elements rise to the forefront, it takes away from the star of the show |

Hi Larry,
I have looked at your image several times and wish that I had been on that trip to see it. The idea that I would like to toss about is visual weight as it if affects balance and tension. I feel that the visual balance is tilted to the right by the mass of the mountain on the right as well as the bright orange trees on the hill side and the white buildings. Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I think that if you cropped the right side to half way between the edge and the white buildings the image would be more balanced as far as visual weight goes. However, balanced images can sometimes feel static or even boring and as you get away from balanced you add some tension to the image and thus a feeling on energy. If you go too far, the viewer becomes uncomfortable and even further it can sometimes seem like chaos. Try a couple of crops and see how you feel about this gorgeous scene |

Hi Dan,
How about this thought. Emphasize the yellow bush, the mountains and a path between them. Then darken the edges with 2 grad filters in lightroom to create a sense of diagonals. This is rough and I realize that there are halos in by the hills. |
