I also like the simplicity of this image. One of the things that catches my eye is the broken down fence and the broken wind mill. I think that if the windmill blades were a little lighter, one would notice it sooner and make a quicker connection with freshness of the grasses and the disrepair of the man made objects |

Thanks for you comments Paul. It is amazing how different eyes see different things. I have a question about your thoughts on over processing and what jumps out at you. Is it the saturation, the fine contrast in the rocks, the clouds or what. I have my post for next month set up to address that same issue in another of my images. |

Hi Larry,
I have never used Simplify and I assume that is what is giving this image a nice painterly feel to it. I think that the tree and the clouds on the right balance each other and I really like diagonals and there are plenty of them in this image. The warm colors and horizontal lines of the foreground which to my eye gives a sense of serenity and is juxtaposed against the cool colors and the drama of the background. I am not sure if the light areas behind the tree are a cloud or an inadequate selection but to my eye it detracts from the image |

HI Paul,
I am a new member of the group and will jump right in. I really like the warm colors and the way that the castle stands out. I also the thin layer of clouds at the top of the frame as well as the ending at the right side of the image. I think that if you eliminated the people and the radio tower, this image would have a very nice timeless quality to it. Nice capture at the end of your drive. |
