Had you tried selecting the background and adding a bit of blur? I think that would have focused the emotion even more.

Were they organic peppers? The colors are exciting and the image is very sharp, as it "should" be for the subject.
While the stems must be there, a tiny bit of clipping or cloning would have made the peppers even sharper.
And, I'd try to spray the peppers just a bit to get small beads of water, makes them look even more tasty |

Fran, the image feels alone, and the addition of the frame gives it an antique feeling that is very appealing. Nice haunted abstract. |

I'm always partial to Martin Luther red doors - would like the red to be fuller and more read. Lovely as is.
The portion to the right of the door looks like a sign was removed. This took my eye first. Maybe you could clone it out and make the door frame less of an eye catcher. |
