I like the line created by having the two beautiful and smart ladies look at each other. I am learning by studying your pictures. I would not have thought of doing this but I can see how effective it is. This is a picture they will both enjoy. Nicely done. |

Beautiful image because of the simplicity and soft colors in the background. Harriet mentioned the birds on the tree. I just thought they were moss or old nests, but realizing that they were birds makes the picture even better. I would keep the horizontal crop. It allows the branches to spread and not be held in. Great job! |

Your views surrounding your residence are simply beautiful. I like the angle you chose to photograph this scene. The evergreen trees on the left balance the picture. You could follow Barbara's suggestion to remove the small bush on the left side to clean up the edge of the frame. However, I think the picture is beautiful and I would be proud to hang it on my wall.

Beautiful flower captured at the height of its beauty. I like the details and colors of the flower especially the detail of the heart of the flower. I would have wanted to remove the petals from the adjoining flower if possible because the flower appears to be almost symmetrical. In my opinion, the petals from the other flower are a little distracting. |

Bogart is spiffy, ready to go out on a date. My only suggestion would be to lighten his eyes just a little. |

I liked your capture of this beautiful bird. I am not familiar with the Nikon Coolpix. Can you choose the aperture or is it more like a point and shoot? Just wondering. My only suggestions would be to decrease the highlights and perhaps blur the background a little in post processing. |

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try to crop the area that you mentioned. I'll increase the shutter speed and open my aperture a little next time. It would blur the background at the same time. |

I like your crop and your idea to contrast the interesting piece of diagonal ice against the dark mud below. You might also consider taking this to Silver Effex to make it a more dramatic black and white image. You could also play with it by taking it to Topaz like Cindy did above. |

I like the angle you shot these mushrooms. You see the texture underneath as well as the tops. I think three in a row and the contrasting grass makes them stand out even more. I agree that a vertical crop would be less distracting and enhance the mushrooms. I believe you took this photo with an android phone. Well done! |

Thank you for being so detailed in your process. I learn so much from it every time. It is such an interesting subject and you have made it more interesting by eliminating the distractions of the blown out sky and part of the wall. I like that you did not crop into any of the horns. In my opinion, it needs to be centered on the corner background which you did. |

I, too, thought it was a tire. Black and white suits the image. I like the lines especially because they are curved but I would have liked the foreground to have been sharp. |

I need to try my "Auto." It is amazing that it did so well. The composition is well balanced and sharp. I like the small details and repetition of brads throughout. Wondered how it would look in black and white. Am not sure which one I like better -- the color might be better because it is unusual. |

Jessica, I think the Topaz filter does blur your edges of your lily and you might try working on your original copy without the Topaz filter. I agree with Cindy that the petals from another flower are merged with your lily on the side and under the lily. |

Cindy, you are absolutely right. I will try to stick to either macro or the definition of close-up. |
