19 Mar 19 Comment I think monochrome works best with this image. I agree with Norm that you can remove some of the shadows if you wish but I don't think it is necessary to make this a well-composed image. You would expect shadows on a sunny day. I think you wanted us to notice the odd looking float which you placed almost on the crash point of the rule of thirds. A simple image that works. Mar 10th
19 Mar 19 Comment I, too, like the simplicity of this image. I think it is the curves on top of the fountain and the solid colors that make this image work. I look to see what makes it work so that I can be looking for those items in my future captures.

I agree with Stan that the fountain is not exactly straight but that should be easy for you to fix.

19 Mar 19 Comment I would not be able to improve on your image. I like the closer crop you chose. The colors, texture and details of the straw and eggs are complementary and even though the eggs are not an odd number, the image works. Being new in your group, I would like to ask if you live on a farm. Did not see your bio.

Before retiring, my husband and I also had a farm. Raised cattle. Never could get used to the mamas wailing after the little ones went to the auction. It was so sad. But there were also some happy moments when the babies were born.

19 Mar 19 Reply I intend to visit this site again and take pictures of this church and others in the tour. I will certainly try your method. Thank you. Mar 10th
19 Mar 19 Reply Tracy, it is unbelievable how I did not notice this. You are absolutely correct in pointing out that the details on the right pillar and around the top right window are not as sharp as the one on the left. I don't know if I can bring these details out a little more in post-processing, but I am going to try. The bus was leaving so I only took this one picture. Thank you for noticing these flaws. 19 Mar 19 Reply Fortunately, this image has a lot of pixels and I will try to crop it as a square and see how it looks. Thank you for the suggestion. Mar 10th
19 Mar 19 Comment I just noticed that my posting on your picture was not in. It must have been something I did!

The angle of the hawks in the frame, in my opinion, is perfect. It shows motion and makes the image spring to life. I know they did not pose for you. The branch acts as a frame to the action -- all in fine detail. I also like the background -- just enough to know where they were, but not distracting. Great capture!

What did you mean by partial metering?

One of the things I have observed in looking at all of your images is that I have a lot to learn from your pictures.

19 Mar 19 Comment Your picture proves that you can take a good picture even at mid-afternoon and with a lot of wind. You can appreciate the wind by the ripples in the water. I like the reflections you managed to take even if you say the reflection was awesome on the other side. I believe the grass on the left side lead you into the image of the temple. Looking at your picture makes me wish I had traveled more when I was younger. Mar 9th
19 Mar 19 Comment I like the way you captured the wolf's eyes. They seem to be glued on you and even on me when I look at him. I think the "moire" effect of the fence in the background helps in making his head stand out even more. Wonderful image. Mar 9th

57 Mar 19 Comment I find myself wanting to delve into the center of your flower. The lighting and foam core used as a reflector even lights inside the center of the flower. I like the choice of your flower with its many petals, the colors, the sharpness and the crop. With so much that needed to be sharp, I am sure the focus stacking and the use of Helicon helped. But...the photographer has to be congratulated for using his tools so well. Mar 10th
57 Mar 19 Comment I love this picture. I can feel the motion and find myself floating with the curved lines. The colors are beautiful. It's simply beautiful. Mar 10th
57 Mar 19 Comment I looked at your picture first before I read the comments, and I, too, felt that the green stalk did not belong there. It probably did, but it distracted me. I liked the muted colors and the square crop. Since the cactus is kind of layered, I also felt the layered background worked well. Mar 10th
57 Mar 19 Comment Great image -- color, texture and detail. I, too, see the eyes and almost almost flirty feathers partially covering one of the 'eyes."

I have to ask, what would you set your ISO now? You said it was a poorly lit room. Would you keep trying different ISOs until you would get a lower one than a 6400? However, even at ISO on automatic, it did not look like you had noise.

I understand that the camera as to be on the same plane as the subject you are photographing to be successful in capturing the entire image. Were the feathers on a table and your camera above it? Everything is sharp. Great picture, Cindy.

57 Mar 19 Comment Hi Mary,

Your cake looks delicious. I agree with Cindy about extending the tablecloth, and you said it did look better.

I have to ask. What is in back of the cake? If your audience would know, then it doesn't matter, but if they are like me, my eyes are distracted from the cake. And as you said, it is all about the cake.
