I am at a disadvantage because I don't know very much about food photography. I agree that compositing a different background will help, but I would also concentrate on capturing the smoke coming from very hot coffee. When I see smoking coffee, I almost feel I can smell it. I understand that food photography should appeal to our senses if at all possible. Maybe there was smoke and you cropped the picture too much from the top.		 Jul 8th

57 Jul 18 Comment I believe this is such a realistic treatment. I have seen where people have erased to bring out a bright red, or some other color which screams "photoshopped." This appears so realistic and brings out the most important part of the image. Great shot and great treatment! Jul 8th
57 Jul 18 Comment Canna leaves are so interesting. I, too, like the lines, color and texture of the rolled up leaf. You can even see the water droplets. I think the picture begs for a symmetrical treatment with the rolled leaf in the center. In my opinion the left upper corner is a little distracting. Jul 8th
57 Jul 18 Comment I have not been successful at focus stacking. I have been advised to use Helicon; however, that has not helped me either. I know some people use a "rack" that mechanically moves the camera from the back to the front successfully. It would seem to me that your focus points are too far apart. I will anxiously wait to hear from someone who really knows how to do focus stacking. I commend you on trying to learn. I should be doing the same.

Also, I share your feelings on the soccer boys and coach trapped in the cave. I just heard that they rescued 4 (I think) We are all praying that they all get out before more rains come. 		Jul 8th
