The nuts are so sharp and look delicious. I don't think the gray adds anything to your composition. To me it appears obvious that the nuts are in a bowl so I would crop the gray out. Good job! |

I, too, think the water droplets make the orchids look even better, especially the front one. In my opinion, I would not crop the front one, but I would try to delete the back one on the left that is not in focus. I think there are two together there. I am referring to the one behind.
Yes, I am impressed because you can hand-hold at 1/15 sec. and also that you can produce such non-distracting backgrounds. Good composition even when none of the orchids are facing the same way. Have to try it! |

The inner part of the orchid has been edited beautifully. You can see clearly the detail on it and on the petals. I, too, would crop even tighter, leaving only the white petals. |

I have been asked to take photographs for a community car show. I hope I can do half as good as you. I like the angle and position you took in taking your picture, emphasizing the curves of the car. Although some parts of the frame match the lines of the grille, I think it distracts from the beauty of the car. A great image and one I would be proud to display without the frame. |

Laurie, how creative and it tells your story at the present time!
Since you are creating a scene without motion, you could probably use a slower shutter speed and reduce your ISO to 100. You would, or course, need a tripod. You could even increase your f stop to 8 or 11 and increase your depth of field. The main thing I have learned and I try to tell myself every time is that my subjects need to be at the same plane of my camera. Since flowers and your figurines and water container all have curves, achieving perfect focus is something we all struggle with. Stepping back sometimes helps. |
