I do not think the image is over processed. I think that the background is a little distracting and perhaps darkening it or blurring it some more might help. |

Mary, I think you thought of everything. The sushi looks good enough to eat. The black plate with the green tea towel makes it pop. I also own a 90mm macro lens. It should allow you to shoot hand-held at those settings.
The only thing that distracts me is that the white line is not the same width across the plate, or at least the portion we see in your picture. I also noticed that the right side seems to be cropped severely whereas I can see the end of the left side of the plate. Maybe you can crop the left side exactly as the right side.I think you did great in such rushed circumstances. |

I like the water shooting up and its color. Great idea. I hope you were also able to take some pictures of that wonderful sky that shows in the background.
I did not like the black coils above, but Nelson, I haven't seen much of the world. To me, it took from the beauty of the golden water. I assume that this was the fountain.

I will never look at a prickly pear cactus in the same way. You were able to capture the soft colors and the texture of each of the pears except for the ones in the back. The thorns or spines are sharp toward the front and blurry further back. You mentioned you had used software to impart the soft blur in the back to eliminate distractions. I would have liked to see a few more sharp spines closer to the right front of the cactus.
I would have removed the small dry part of the pear which is at the bottom center of the picture. My eyes keep going to it.

Hummingbirds are beautiful little birds. I had never seen a light ivory or golden hummingbird. Our little hummingbirds are dark colors or grayish, at least in my neighborhood. You were able to freeze his wings with your flash. His eyes even have catchlights and the nectar dropping from his beak is perfect.
I believe the underside or belly is a little soft but it is still a lovely hummingbird picture. |
