I don't know much about this type of photograpy, but it seems to me that it looks much like the old photography -- which is interesting. I like the crop and the details on the plants.
The background seems cluttered, but I don't know if anything could be done to improve this. |

Janet, your dragonflies are so beautiful and acrobatic and your skill is fantastic. The background is simply poetic. I can't think of a single thing I would change except to wish I could have taken the picture. Good job, Janet!!!! |

Cindy, I really appreciate how beautiful your water lily is, and hand held at that! I recently have been photographing lilies and it is very hard to keep the background from competing with the flower, especially with these variegated leaves. You did it. The texture of the leaves and the their position seem to cradle the flower. Maybe it works because of the simplicity of the lily's petals...do you think? Remember, I am still learning, so please don't mind if I ask questions.
The lighting is perfect too. I notice the ISO is only 400. Did you set your ISO or is it on automatic?
I need to go back and take some more lily images. |

I like how natural these two beauties appear in a simple mason jar. The background is minimum and does not compete. I think the cropping is excellent. The picture now exhibits a "devil may care" attitude, which I think is refreshing. In my opinion, the post processing in Topaz took the images to another level, making it look more like a beautiful painting.
