Thanks Robert, I see what you are saying. I was afraid of pushing the f stop to much because of diffraction. Maybe I just need to stick to stacking.

Sharp eye! I was in a bit of hurry and didn't notice the halo. I've been trying the PS unsharpened for the first time and clearly pushed it to far.
Distance wise, I set my sigma 105 at the minimum focus distance with it in manual, then moved the camera until it came into focus, so I was pretty close.
