I see the little family you saw as well. The white flowers really pop against the black background. A suggestion I have is to use a mask with a brush to lighten the dark horizontal stem that's on the left. The section that is closest to the white left flower seems to be blending too much with the background.
Nice job! |

Maria this is just divine! I agree with what others have said and that you could probably lose the little leaves at the bottom. |

What a unique capture and story this image tells. You picked up all of the textures in the green and dead leaves. I like your decision to remove the other flowers, but also think you could remove the leaf that is overhanging the top of the flower. I would also suggest adding a little more room at the top.
Good eye to see this interesting composition. |

Beautiful glowing crocus flowers Kim. You seem to have good control of your Lensbaby to gain just the right amount of focus to blur ratio. I have never felt confident with using Lensbaby lenses, except when stopping them down. Especially with the Velvet series, I love the way flowers are rendered when using stopped down apertures. |

Beautiful detail and composition. I love the colors as well and now understand that your use of a polarizer probably helps in that regard. I do so much hand-held photography that I wonder if I would have issues with the loss of light that occurs. I'm always afraid to push my ISO too high but it sounds like I need to do some experimenting to see if I can be successful. My camera does have very good stabilization, so time to experiment! |

Thanks for the suggestion Kim. I had never considered that before and will give it a try! Just have to be sure to stick my circular polarizer in my bag and leave it there, LOL. |

I agree with the others. I felt a crop was also needed to better highlight the beautiful bird and simplify the scene a bit more. You did a great job of capturing this bird. |

I like the colors and the composition. It almost looks like stained glass. There is a lot going on, but that seems to suit the final image you've made.
Well done! |

For some reason I didn't know where I was supposed to focus my eyes. I felt like there was too much landscape in the image. Even though the fence was close to the center, it didn't feel right that the fence was the point of focus. So using the rule of thirds I cropped the image on top and bottom, then from the sides I placed the left edge of the fence on the cross-hairs of the left bottom third and the cairn on the right bottom third. To me, it balanced out the composition without losing that feeling of rushing by.
Does this still seem to catch your intent? |

This is an interesting image with the wide angle on the front of the car and the floor reflections on the chrome and car body. Unwanted reflections on car images are very tough to manage when not in a controlled environment. But for this image, I almost get a "pop art" feel. Maybe removing the small blue reflection right above the grill would make an improvement. I think you did a good job in post-processing to remove the cluttered background. |

Your model shoots are always stunning Carol. I love the rich colors of the dress and background and the smooth skin tones. I like your background change as it simplifies the area above her interesting hair piece. The swirly lines of the original background competed. You also handled the reflections on the shiny beads beautifully, and actually got some starbursts on some! Did you add those or were you able to get them at f8 because of shooting on micro 4/3rds? |
