I agree with others that adding a little more depth improves this image. The bright fall colors really pack a punch! Your edits made a nice improvement to your original image to make interesting abstract art. |

I love your imagination Jan! You melded every image you choose into one image with a cohesive story. I also love the color palette you chose. Very fall-like and moody.
My only suggestion is that in the black & white I feel you can see that there is a distinctive path the reaper is walking down. That gets a little lost in the color version. Maybe because you have that rust color coming into the path on the bottom right. So a slight adjustment there might bring out the path more. But I might just be splitting hairs. I really like this image. |

I like your final image best and the fact that you can see through the windows as well. Very graphic with bold colors that aren't too saturated to my eye.
However, I feel like the perspective is off somewhat so I took this into Lightroom and using the transform tools I adjusted the horizontal slider to change the perspective then cropped as needed. The result felt a little better to me with the horizontal lines more at an angle although the thick dark line down the middle is straight. It appears you can see the sides of some windows on the left of that dark line. I don't know if that is a reflection in a dark metal beam, or if the whole set of windows on the right actually jut out farther than the ones on the left. Thoughts? |

This is an interesting image Connie. I like the colors and the fact that this is a reflection makes me really stop to look at it. I can't tell if it's a ship or if this is a flagpole on a dock. I'm not sure that matters, because to me, this comes across as abstract anyway.
However, I would suggest that you flip this image so that you have leading lines from the railing taking you into the flagpole. That is what seems to be the subject to my eye, rather than a whole ship. Also, removing the oval shape on the right as it doesn't seem to add anything in my opinion.
I've attached an example flipped. I also cropped a little from the bottom. |

Thanks for your feedback Jan! I love a good door too, LOL.
I struggled with how to straighten the image and thought I had it more vertical than I did. Thanks for the example. |

Carol, I find this image so tranquil. The silky, smooth wavy lines seem soothing to me. And the simplicity of the composition and color palette really appeals to me. This is lovely to look at. Well done!
I also like your original as a more graphic (if that's the right word to use) example. The blue and white sky leading into the graduated gray-toned water also appeals to me for different reasons. So I really like them both! |
