Thanks for the feedback and example Carol. I like the adjustments you made to the color version. They definitely bring out a better early morning feel to the image. |

Thanks for your comments Linda. I was torn between the color and B & W as well. Appreciate your visual feedback! |

Thanks for your feedback Connie. I also would like to see a little more depth to this image, but was fearful of losing the fog, as you mentioned. Appreciate your thoughts. |

Thanks for the feedback Michael. I was torn between this grainy result and a smoother processing, but settled on the grainy in the moment, LOL. I'm still unsettled on if I'll share this with others as the final image. |

My original feeling when looking across this vast field was to give a bit of an expansive view. This is actually quite a bit zoomed in with the lens I was using as the field was much wider. I loved how the fog was weaving through the trees and was one of the reasons I left that small bush in the frame as the fog went behind it. I felt it added some dimension.
However I also like the cropped example you've shared. It's got my wheels turning again. Thanks for the feedback! |

Well done composite Linda. The color tones you brought out really compliment the late afternoon setting. I agree with Witta that I did recognize that it's the same group of birds that you added to the scene. Adding more birds definitely improved the image, so if there is a way to change them up that would be an even better improvement in my opinion as well. |

Michael, your statement of "it's hard for me to tell if there is enough here to be interesting", kind of tells the story of this image. I felt there was something missing as well. Your post-processing definitely improved the color tones, textures, etc., but I'm longing to see more. Possibly more of the wheel or the area it's in. Why is this wheel there? Has it been discarded because it's old and dysfunctional? So more of the wheel that shows it's character. Some shadows of it leaning against the old building maybe. Something more that makes me want to look longer at this image.
On the flip side, you could go for a much closer crop and really focus on the age and textures of this old wheel. Maybe that would emphasize the story of a wheel that's done it's time and is from a past age. I've attached an example crop that changes the point of view on this image a bit and may be a jumping off point for further ideas. |

What a precious image Mary! I like your decision to make this a bit high key, but keeping the background intact, but lightened and blurred. It helps emphasize the fact that Mila was in a place where she was enjoying a delightful view of some kind, which she was applauding. You captured a great expression and moment in time, with your post-processing taking the photo to a higher quality in my opinion. The lightness and softness work well with this beautiful little angel. Very nice. |

I can see why you were attracted to this view in this room. It does start to tell a story of the house's history. Your decision to add the texture compliments the image well.
I was curious if doing a different crop would improve this image in any way. Since you liked the room, but also were focused on the basket, I cropped in on the basket and added some more texture and contrast to only the basket, and darkened the shadow on the table a bit. I tried to leave the sense of an old room by ensuring the rush seat of the chair and old carpets could still be seen, but emphasized the basket. I've attached the example as just food for thought.

You found a wonderful subject to photograph and composed it nicely. The low angle looking up the hill and getting the massive clouds behind the tree is very dramatic. Your choice to convert to B & W was a good one in my opinion. It also brought out the shadow of the tree nicely. A very moody photo well shot and post-processed. |

This is a beautiful image Carol. I like your choice to change the dress color from the original as it really draws out and compliments her hair and the background with the little pops of color from the flowers. The composition is well balanced and very pleasing to my eye. There is an overall feeling of being in a magical forest in another time. I also wonder if removing the balls would improve the image or not. Might be worth trying. |
