Thanks Georgianne! It's really helpful to get feedback to determine if others see what I see. |

The parent and child concept came to me as well Linda! Thanks for your comments. |

Beautiful composition and concept for this image. I love how you captured the life cycle on one stem.
My only suggestions would be to soften the flowers a bit, they looked like they had a little too much texture, and to change the background as well. Everyone's suggestions above already spoke to those things and I think provided lots of options to think about.

I really love the subject matter and composition of this image. The color tones and texture compliment this very well.
I agree that the harsh light spot on the vase needs toning down. There is also a bit of "hardness" to this image that is bothering me a little. I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe the light is too bright? The angle is definitely good as there is nice fall-off of the shadow around the vase. Maybe the highlights overall just need a tad toning down, not sure. Maybe it's just me today, LOL! But I can definitely see you are applying the Joel Grimes teachings to this image! Nice job. |

Hi Witta. Thank you for your additional creative edits to make this a virtual framed piece of art. When you click on the image, the pink frame shows up nicely, so no worries.
I like my version and I like your version as well. What you've done makes it look a little more like it's among a group of flowers rather than standing alone. That gives me food for thought when I'm working with an individual subject like this.
I appreciate your efforts! |

I really like your composition and the sky swap was a very good choice. Like the others, I actually prefer the original as you lose the water motion with your mirror image version. I think Witta's edits really added to the image as well.
I've not tried this effect before, so I'm not sure of any other suggestions that would let you do this, but make it more "natural". |

Isn't it funny how the photographer may not like a photo from the technical standpoint, but the parents love it. They are looking at the expressions and mood of the image only, which is what they really wanted to capture. So you achieved that objective here!
I agree that the lighting is not great for this photo and attempting to leverage the blown out portions for a high key effect doesn't work well here in my opinion. I went in a different direction.
In Lightroom, I used a portrait preset for medium skin tones labeled PM09 to see if it would reduce some of the highlights on the skin. I then used the adjustment brush to reduce the highlights on the crouch area of the baby in the white outfit. I than adjusted the tone curve towards the dark and converted the photo to black and white. I then cropped it to an 8 x 10 format to focus more on the babies and less on the background. I think the overall effect is much more soft and baby-like and could possibly produce a nicer print. You may want to experiment more with a black and white version to see if that helps.

Very nice image Georgianne. I really appreciate the detailed information you share about your post-processing. One day (I keep telling myself) I'll take the time to learn more about Photoshop than the few small things I occasionally use!
I do like the flipped version others have shared as I feel the single leaf draws you into the photo when it's on the left side. As a personal preference, I think I would like the entire background a bit darker as well. But I truly have nothing different to add than what was mentioned by others. You've done a great job of capturing the motion and texture of the petals in this flower. Well done! |

I really like your choice to change the colors within this photo. I agree that it improves the image. Like Connie, I felt the flowers look like they are floating in a bubbly liquid, not frozen and hard. Well done! |
