I really like all of the objects you have in this photo. They are both meaningful to you, but also make a nice composition as well. However I feel like I want more room on the right. The edge is touching the handle on the candle stand and feels really tight to me.
I took your image into Photoshop and extended the canvas on the right, just to provide an example of what more room could do for the composition. I don't know if your original shot will allow for a different crop if you think that would be an improvement. |

I also liked the original a lot and made a print of it as well. But became curious about what else might enhance this photo.
I was interested to read the link you added, but it comes up as "page not found", so I guess they've deleted it.
Sometimes I feel like a signature marks it as "my creation", but it can also add an unintended distraction!
Thanks for your comments! |

Oh - and I've been playing with whether to add a watermark signature to my images. I did it here, but kind of think it's distracting. Don't know if it's the size, too y or what. Thoughts? |

You did capture a lovely scene Linda. I like the composition with the leading line provided by the fallen tree taking you to the sunrise. You captured the gentle mist of the fog while still getting texture in some of the tree trunks. To my eye it's a nice balance of sharpness and softness, which HDR can sometimes make images too sharp, or harsh, in my opinion. I do not feel this is overdone in that regard.

To me, you achieved your objective Witta. This landscape was much improved with the new sky, which suits the photo very well and was nicely blended into the scene. I also like how the color pops more in the edited version, which I felt emphasized the different textures better.
However, I wondered if you reduced the vibrancy, just a hair, if that would do anything for the scene. So I took this image into Lightroom and reduced the vibrancy and then used an adjustment brush to paint in a bit more black across the foreground bushes and the mountains on the left. I think it made a subtle difference, and reduced the harshness of the scene a bit to my eye. Whether it's an improvement is in the eye of the beholder though, LOL.

Georgianne, you made a lovely card with a lovely sentiment. You transformed three very different images into one cohesive image. To me the effect of the deer grazing in a snowstorm comes across nicely, with the snow effect somewhat hiding the deer, which seemed appropriate.
However for some reason, the left side of the face of the deer looking straight ahead seems a little distorted, as if something is behind her face that was not in the original photo. It caught my eye.
And I also noticed an extra "a" in the word gratitude. I assume that is because we want to be extra grateful for the good things that came our way, LOL!
Really nice technique to make this image. |
