Thank you for your feedback Witta. I feel like the upper leaf resting lightly on the flower petals gives a sense of intimacy to the photo. The flower is gently pushing through to the sun. It makes me feel like there's more of a story VS just a clear image of a beautiful flower. However I do like the suggestion of maybe desaturating/darkening the leaf a bit.
As for the yellow stamens, I was actually thinking they might be too bright, because this is not supposed to be a "macro" shot. My intention was more of a close-up portrait. So I didn't really want the stamens to be the focus of interest. However, being yellow, they are going to draw the eye for sure! I actually played with toning them down some, but didn't like the result.
I appreciate hearing your perspective and suggestions!

Thanks for the comments Connie. I do see the somewhat blue cast to the flower. I think it may have been a reflection of the blue sky in the highlights. I didn't find it distracting, so left it as is. |

This photo is so pretty, it's almost telling a different story than one might think about fires raging around these beautiful woods.
I hope this is a story of hope; that the sun will continue to come out and shine on a lot of trees that survived. |

This is a really creative image Cecilia. I have to echo what Bunny said about your post-processing, it really added to this image. I see that a few people in the crowd are looking in her direction, which I feel adds to the story. Not everyone has noticed her presence yet, but she's coming.
I also like the suggestion for the removal of the sign on the left, but I'm torn about making both sides identical. I also think the people are fine as is, as I mentioned above.
But again, it just goes to show how everyone has a different take! I like how that makes one think about the possibilities.

I have not tried any compositing, so I'm always impressed when I see a photo where everything seems to fit together just right in my eyes. The mysterious hands, book, and lantern create a really interesting image and story.
You might be right about the lantern/candle being a little too bright red in comparison to the book. I also like how the edges of the "fog" on the right, are disappearing into the darkness, but maybe extending that into the black a little more (rather than cropping) might look nice as well.

The arrangement composition and the post processing really did this image justice. I understand Stephen's comments about the individual items seeming a bit unrelated therefore not telling a specific story. But I do like the shapes and textures within this picture. Many times when shooting at a conference, you don't have much control over your props!
However, I am wishing the edge of the flower petals on the far right were in the picture as well. If you did that, you'd probably have to add some space on the left to balance everything out again; or maybe not. But just a thought. |

I find this image very appealing. The color tone and texture add an interesting mood to the photo. I like the composition and the water reflections of the little island and boat. |

I really like what you've done with this image Georgianne. The texture is beautiful, and I feel like I am peering through a beautiful curtain to glimpse these flowers.
I too, enjoy shooting flowers at all stages, and you've done a wonderful job here. I wonder if that really dark spot on the stems at the bottom, center, were more transparent, if that would add anything to this photo? Regardless, I really appreciate what you've done here. |
