Have you tried adding a texture from a different image; layering a texture over the original and painting off the places you don't want the texture to appear? I've just started working with textures that way, but still getting the hang of it! I've seen that technique used beautifully on other's photos. |

Thanks Bill! Lensbaby lens are a bit of a different animal. Although the Velvet 56 and Velvet 85 kind of act like normal, prime lens, but the focus is primarily in the center and falls off a little faster. So depending on how you are angling your camera, that really affects your depth of field. Plus, they are a completely manual lens, so you've got to have good eyesight for the manual focusing, LOL. That's something I'm still practicing! Even with some helpful tools built into my camera, like manual focus magnification and Focus Peaking, it's still a challenge! |

I think you've done a great job with this ornament Bob! It's so hard to light shiny objects, and this is very well done.
The composition and focus is very nice. |

Greetings Doug! What a really interesting composition you've got here. I love all of the movement and curvy lines. The leaves seem to be doing a dance.
Great job with the focus stacking. I've played around with that and have not quite got it down yet! |

I have always loved these flowers too Bill! You have this well composed. I like the softness you got with the 2.8 aperture. I find this really pleasing to look at.
As the others mentioned, adding a vignette would probably improve the photo, and it is really easy to do in Lightroom. |

Interesting post-processing choice Carol. The background color mirrors the center of the flower. The composition is very nice with the flower dead center and the butterfly a bit off center. Nice capture!
Personally, I find the texture somewhat "hard" for a subject that is typically soft. The small dots are maybe what's making this so crunchy to me, and maybe the amount of sharpening.
Kudos to you for you trying out new techniques in Photoshop! I still have a lot to learn there! |
