This is a lovely photo Bob. You did great with the focus stacking. I don't see any ghosting or other artifacts that sometimes occur. I really like how the red creeps down the stems of the flowers. The composition and colors are very nice.
On my monitor, there seems to be small hot spot on the little bud that's right above the big bud. It might be improved by reducing the highlights just in that area. Regardless, still a very well done photo. |

This is a lovely composition Bill. The flower is sharp, yet allows the softness of the flower come through. I like the addition of the dragonfly, and if we could see the photo at a bigger size, I bet it shows up nicely. It looks like you've even captured it's shadow on the lily pad under the flower.
I think the same goes for the other critters. At this size they might be a bit distracting, but larger, they might add interest. Tough call on that for me. |

Hi Bob. The workshop was coordinated by a group called Out of Chicago. There were 11 different instructors holding a variety of concurrent workshops over 5 days. So you got to choose who you went out in the field with and also some indoor workshop topics. It was fun and a bit exhausting, LOL. |

Goodness Carol! Thanks so much for the complement! I know you've mentioned competitions before, and maybe I should start checking them out a bit closer. It might be interesting to see what happens.
I really appreciate the feedback! |

Beautiful colors in the photo Bill. I also like the angle and composition. I do find my eye drawn to the chewed up area on the leaf, above the flower. Had you considered trying to clone that out? Also, I think I'd like to see a little more of the bottom of the flower since just the edge is cropped out.
I can see why you really like these flowers! |

Really great concept Angie and it appears you planned this shot out well! Unfortunately, the size and crop of this posted image doesn't really emphasize your vision. I can't tell what the reflection is in the drop. To tell your story I would think the crop would need to be more like the one I've attached,or even closer, but of course because of the small size of the file I had to work with, it still doesn't do justice to your concept. Since the focus needed to be on the refraction in the droplet, the droplet needed to be the center of attention, with a really tight crop, rather than the whole flower. Do you have a version where the primary subject filling the frame is the droplet? |

Nice capture of this interesting looking guy. It's great that you got good focus on the eye and face; even the catch-light, as you mentioned. He has a curious look on his face as well.
I like that you got the background nice a blurred so he would stand out. |
