60 Aug 19 Comment Nice shot Bob. I like the composition with the back portion of the caterpillar going out of the frame. The leaves provide nice leading lines, from a number of directions, that take you right to the colorful caterpillar. Patience paid off to get a really nice photo of this little guy. Aug 5th
60 Aug 19 Comment Very nice detail on the bud. The dark background really helps make your subject stand out. Since the bud is your main subject, had you considered having it more towards the center of the composition rather than at the bottom? Not dead center, but if you imagine a rule of thirds grid and maybe have it where some lines intersect off center. I'm not sure having the extra bud at the top adds to the composition. I understand the appeal of the steam fading away, however cropping just below that extra bud and leaving more space at the bottom of the photo, may highlight your subject matter better. I do like the simplicity of this photo and it is very well exposed. Aug 5th
60 Aug 19 Comment Very nice capture John. The detail is very clear and the photo well composed. The lighting is also good, with no blown-out highlights. My personal preference might be to remove the two brown spots on the leaf so there are no distractions from the bug. But they are small and may not really make that much difference, I'm just easily distracted. :) Aug 5th
60 Aug 19 Comment I took a photo of this exact same bug this past weekend! That one lives in Missouri, LOL. My effort is not nearly as nice as this one. Really nice detail and position of the bug on the leaf. Although the background is also green, the leaf still stands out well against it. I agree that the colors of the bug and leaf work well together. Aug 5th
60 Aug 19 Comment WOW! The colors and detail in this photo are outstanding! The composition works well too, with some extra room in front of the standing fly's face. They high key background really accentuates these two as well. Nice job! Aug 5th
