Thanks Bill! I felt very lucky to find a small patch of these flowers growing in a wildflower garden in a park I was visiting. I think they area so beautiful! |

Very nice shot of a very pretty flower. Your post-processing did justice to this flower as well. I agree with the others that the original showed a very sharp flower, so unsure if you really needed to adjust that. But it doesn't seem overdone either, so nice job! |

Thank you for that suggestion Carol! I do feel like the pictures do look a little flat after working with textures. I definitely don't have the technique quite down so that is a great tip! I'll give it a try! |

Welcome to Spring! You choose nice subject matter to celebrate the season. I like the soft pinks of these flowers. I'm curious why you chose F 32 to shoot this flower. I think due to the size of the image, and possibly my monitor, I'm not seeing how well you captured the details of the flower which I assume would be very distinct with that aperture. Also, I wonder if this would be a stronger image had you moved the leaf sticking out between the petals before shooting. I definitely see why this flower appealed to you. |

Welcome John, and well done shot! You gathered a lot of detail on this little guy and I feel you had the right amount of light. There are no harsh highlights and he seems very evenly lit with that ring flash. I like how you have him positioned at the very edge of the leaf so that you could include the jagged detail as well. Very nice composition. |

So of course I love this image Bill. The complimentary colors are fabulous and your decision on the composition was excellent in my opinion. You really nailed the focus on the stamens as well. So my submission was of a western red columbine (I had to look it up). I definitely understand their appeal!
Incidentally, I will be visiting Longwood Gardens in August with a group attending a photo workshop. I am very excited, having never been there before.

This is a very interesting shot Carol. The original image seemed to have more in focus and less noisy. I guess the zooming in/cropping just magnified any noise. Do you shoot in RAW? I don't know if that would make a difference when dealing with noise.
Overall I like the composition and the subject matter. I wonder if you selectively darkened some of the background, if that would help reduce the clutter a bit as well. Very brave of you to drag this guy in to get a portrait! |

Thanks for your nice comment Bill. The high ISO didn't make a significant difference to the photo. Between my camera handling high ISO well and a minor Lightroom adjustment to the noise level, there really was no negative impact. |
