Beautiful flower that was well captured here. Nice texture, color, and blurred background that makes the orange pop.
I feel like the color tone is very natural, like what my eye would normally see and enjoy. Great job! |

I agree that the dust actually does not detract from this image. You captured the soft details nicely and chose a good background color.
I do wonder if there would have been a way to make the individual pieces of the feather lay better without losing the airy quality you've captured. The pieces at the bottom that are kind of folded under, aren't as attractive as the rest of the feather. But overall, nice job! |

The texture and detail are very strong in this image. I also like the orientation. You really take your time looking at this to enjoy the different aspects of color, tone, texture, and shape. Nicely done Bill! |

Very unique flower bud and photo Carol. I love the graphic qualities of this picture and the nice use of texture in the background. The color combination is striking. The way the background so closely matches the bud really makes the red details pop without causing the bud to fade away.
The highlights seem a little strong in a couple of areas, but overall, a very striking image. I think there is a lot of experimenting you could do with this bud because it is so unique, but this example is well thought-out and executed. |

Thanks Jennifer. I will play around with your suggestions to see if the results appeal to me better. But I do want to be careful of losing the intent; the emerging from the shadows. It's not just about how well the flower itself, stands out, but the mood and story. That's the part I sometimes struggle with. |

Thank you for your kind comments Carol. I can't say enough about the quality of the in-camera AND lens stabilization I get from my Sony A7R2. It makes a world of difference when having to do hand-held shots. I'm not sure what that mound in the center is called either! The parts of an orchid are a bit different than other flowers. |

Thanks so much for your comments Bob. I appreciate that you also provided an example of what you were explaining. I do agree that sometimes monitors, and one's point of view, can make a difference when viewing a photo. :) |
