Thank you Carol. I believe I had this on a tripod, however the light was somewhat dim and I'm pretty sure that I forgot to take my camera off auto ISO, LOL. I liked what I was seeing, and I probably didn't notice the actual ISO setting.
It's just that simple. :) |

What an interesting idea Jennifer! You really captured the essence of the leaf trapped inside the ice. Very nice focus and composition. I actually like the tone gradation of lighter background down in the left corner, then getting darker as your eye moves up in a diagonal. I don't find that bothersome to my eye. I think you added just the right amount of punch to the color as well. Nice job! |

I'm glad you didn't throw this away. This is a beautiful picture in my eyes. The color, the detail of the veins, even the textured background works really well together. The crop makes the composition very pleasing to me. I think you did a great job on this! |

Really nice idea Bill. We don't get to see the underside of a spider too often! Because this is such a unique perspective, I would like to see more of the spider in focus, and more of the spider itself. The composition feels a bit awkward, with just the very base of the legs where they attach to the body in focus. It looks like the spider was in some water? So it's hard to get a sense of what you really want us to see here and the story you wanted to tell. |

Very clever image Bill. I like the crop you did on this; it makes for a very nice composition. I also wish the eyeball itself was a little more in focus and a little brighter. I struggle taking pictures in the snow, so you did a great job of managing the light. |
