Similar to the comment I made on Carol's photo, there is a lot going on here and I find it hard to determine the central point of interest. Is it the colors of the struts, the colors and reflections in the wheels, the texture of the tires. I'm not sure where I should be looking. I find the black bumper to actually be a little distracting. It doesn't add anything to the photo in my opinion. Overall the photo is very well executed as far as the lighting, focus, etc. I think there is a lot of potential here for zoning in on some more specific elements. Maybe that's my "macro" eye trying to take over even though you mentioned that was not your intent. :) |

Great shot Bob! You can really get a sense of the age here, and I love how you managed any reflections and glare. I also like the centered composition. I do, however, want to straighten this shot a tad. Seems to be leaning to the right. But it's still a nice capture :). |

I really like this subject matter Bill. The lighting on this bloom is nice and the deep, dark background really makes this stand out. I have to agree with the others that having the front in good focus, then the out of focus petals, and then the center more in focus, throws this off to me a bit. The on-going challenge with really narrow depth of field! Again, that 2.8 aperture can be a challenge to work with! Maybe a little different angle so that everything behind the front part falling out of focus might balance this a little more. Merry Christmas to you as well! |

I have to agree with the others Bill, that I was craving that the yellow mass in the center was fully in focus. I love the colors and lines in the petals. The overall composition is pleasing to me as well. I think the 2.8 aperture did you in a bit. I might have risked increasing the ISO to give the ability to raise the shutter speed and the aperture to possibly help with any camera shake and get more in focus. As Carol stated, lots of potential with this shot. |

This is one of the photos that you just need to "feel" and not think too much about in my opinion. I love the color combination and your original composition. It is busy and bright which makes it interesting. The only thing that may not be too clear is exactly what the viewer should be focusing on. The bolt, the textures, the color, or just the overall mixture of everything? Regardless, it still appeals to me. |

I agree that macro does not require everything to be in focus. In some cases it might be good, but it's definitely not required. For experimentation sake I'm going to try this again on another project, just to see how much I can get in focus without going too crazy with the number of shots. I appreciate your comments and suggestions. |

Thanks for your comments Will! I will try cropping some of the out of focus edge out and see what I think as well. But I'll need to be careful not to lose the balance of the composition. Hope you enjoyed your snack! |

Thanks so much Carol. I'm blushing from all of your compliments! I also felt good about the composition and flow, so I appreciate that you like that as well. |

I really didn't want this whole image in focus, but wanted to concentrate more on the sprinkles (candies) in the front and part of the way back. I like my images to kind of fade away in spots. :) Thanks for your kind words and feedback. I'll play around with some of the adjustments you've suggested. |
