No time was wasted by posting this photo! We are all here to observe and learn. I think you had a great idea to use the Sea Fan skeleton as subject matter. I hope the feedback gives you some additional ideas for ways to make your image even more compelling. :) |

I am unsure of the point of interest in this photo. There are a lot of great textures and patterns here, but just seeing one edge and whatever that is in the background (a window frame?) also makes me confused about what you are hoping the viewer sees.
I would love to just see a close up of a section of the skeleton filling the frame and the pattern being highlighted by light and shadow falling through the various gaps. That would really grab me personally. |

I love the texture and pattern in this photo. Agree that the way the light is striking the yellow spines is really nice.
I have to agree with Carol about the background fighting for attention. The colors are nice, but the edges of the whatever plant is behind this (or a different part of this plant) do seem to stand out a bit too much. So being able to soften or downplay that somehow might make this photo more pleasing to me. |

This is a beautiful photo and I really like the effect. The colors and composition work well for me.
My only comment would be that this photo probably could not be considered a true macro, even though taken with a macro lens, because the ratio for macro is to try to get something close up and either somewhat life sized, filling the frame, or even closer. Since this group of flowers was taken from a distance and includes multiple flowers less than life-sized, I don't think it falls into a macro category. That doesn't make it less pleasing. It's still a really nice abstract photo! |

This image is just stunning to me! I love the golden tones and the hint of sparkles on the ribbon and background. I really like the stream of light along the curve of the ribbon. The composition and leading lines bring you right into the picture. Very holiday-ish and I think you have just the right amount of focus to make this a very dreamy photo. |
