Beautiful and well captured subject! Agree with Carol that you did a great job with a really reflective object. |

I don't think I have anything different to add. Beautiful subject and have fun experimenting with your new gear! |

Very pretty colors and composition. Beautiful balance between the subject and the very soft background. What I find interesting is that the flowers on the ends of the stems are very soft, while the center of the image is much sharper. I don't find this distracting, but I wonder if you were going for something specific by doing that and if it was purposeful VS just the result of the properties of the lens. The overall mood is very nice. |

I'm a real sucker for texture, and this photo has it. I understand what Bill P. was saying about it being a little flat. Because there is so much to work with I wondered if just adding a little more clarity or contrast will help draw out more detail? Here's my attempt at playing with this photo.

Love the colors, lighting and soft abstract feel of this photo. I too felt the green on the left side was a bit distracting and the bright spot on the left petal may have been competing for attention with the bright area in the middle. I do think Ginger's crop brings out more of a focus point since the light is more balanced. You definitely captured a nice mood for this photo. |

Thank you Ginger. I really appreciate your detailed feedback. I too, loved the brown ends of the back leaf so really wanted that in the photo. I like your crop as well! |

Thanks Bill! I was really happy that the light fell the way it did. I really liked getting the reflection as well! |

Thank you Bill! The lines at the top were woody stems that I laid underneath the large leaf to hold the petals up at an angle. I felt like they would serve as another leading line to bring the eye through the photo. I shot a wider photo that shows more of the stems and I was unsure of if it would come across as a macro or more of a still life. Here it is for context. Sorry for the distracting copyright! I forgot I had done that on this shot. |
