I really like your take on this photo too Ginger! I'm wanting to do a personal project on flower abstracts this spring and your suggestion will remind me to get in close and/or experiment with close cropping for sure.
Thanks for your feedback! |

Thanks Bill!
My camera has an electronic viewfinder with what is called a "setting effect" live view. That means when I set my aperture, ISO, and shutter speed, I can actually see in my viewfinder, exactly how my settings affect my shot, as long as I’m using continuous lighting (artificial or natural). So I can experiment with my settings until I like what I see. However, I also have to remember the basics; e.g. slower shutter speeds (which allow in more light) mean possible motion blur therefore tripod is a must, higher ISO can cause noise, and how my f-stop affects depth of field and the amount of light hitting my sensor. So once I decide what I think should give me what I want, I dial it in and see what I get, then make adjustments. So basically I landed on 5 secs after making my other adjustments first. |

I feel as if I can reach out and pluck a strawberry off of the plate. Berries are sharp with the crocheted cloth falling out of focus. Very nice Dorothy. |

I wonder if an even closer crop, to really showcase the frilled petals might make up for the challenges you had with getting more in the shot due to the cramped quarters. And I have to agree that I don't feel the water drops added much, although not greatly distracting. Overall a really nice job of capturing the beauty of this flower. |

Beautiful flower well shot Lou. I love how soft the outer edges of the petals are with the "floating" stamen clearly the center of attention. Your post-processing was very subtle. Lovely photo. |

I also like the colors in this. Surprising how metal with peeling paint can be so soft and appealing. I also like your point of view, focusing on the door latch and making us wonder what might be behind it. I'm a sucker for texture, and this has texture, great color, and composition. Very nice! |

Thanks Lou! I also set my self-timer on my camera so that I'm sure camera shake is at an absolute minimum. Every little bit helps, LOL. |

Thanks so much Carol. I have experimented a lot with Lightroom to take advantage of it's tools to use it in way that helps to bring out the best in my photos without over-doing it. I learn from so many people who share their knowledge, so I like to share too! |
