Hi Melanie
Thanks for your observation and comments. I did think of a square format originally and as I was contemplating to give more emphasis to the foliage in the foreground, I decided to stay with the original format. |

Thanks Gary for your coming up with your version, which I do like. I was actually double minded whether or not to lighten the clouds as well as darken some of the highlights on the bush ... but, you've solved the problem!! |

Hi Gary
You always come up with something special each month, and this is one such example. Compositionally its a strong image.
Am not sure whether you were trying to equate the image to the one shot with a pinhole camera! Whatever the reason, its very well depicted and controlled.
Now on a minor point, would you possibly consider adding a bit more tone in the face!
I'd also stay with the same title. |

Hi Emil
Your cropping is spot, and so is the processing and composition. A simple subject which you've turned into something special in IR. Vignetting too has helped, taking the eye around the subject and beyond. Detail in the wooden structure beautifully rendered. Like it very much.

Hi Melanie
As soon as I opened the image, it reminded of the the caves that we visited along the Garden Route of South Africa some years ago.
Here, your post-processing is top notch and so is the composition. Image crisp sharp which I like immensely. Can't add anything more. Full marks! |

Hi Charles
What a terrific image you've given us to enjoy! I like your post-processing, bringing out all the details where necessary. Those few highlights creeping under the bridge is a fine touch. Warm tone adds to the drama. 10/10 !! |

Hi Arik
Welcome to our friendly group!
Your first submission in terms of composition and rendition is a beauty. It has plenty of atmosphere and is a perfect subject for IR.
Having said that I felt tempted to work on it further and do hope you don't mind!
First I made a selection of the highlight and shadow areas and adjusted the contrast appropriately. Then used Darken/Lighten Center from Nik's Color Efex Pro4 to draw attention to the main area. Finally added some warm tone. See what you think!!
PS. - In future do please include the Original. |
