Hi Melanie - A tranquil scene which you have captured so well, and one to enjoy.
Speaking of your image, I agree with both Gary and Craig about the flatness in the foreground. I also decided to play with it in PS using Curves and am posting my version. You may or may not agree with our modifications!! |

Hi Jack - The emptiness, the composition, but above all the exploding sky makes this picture. A remarkable capture on the whole. Love both yours and Gary's version on their own. |

Hi Craig - A beautifully executed snow scene in IR, coupled with well-balanced composition. Everthing is going for this image. That little break in the sky adds to the drama. Well done! |

Hi Gary - The way you've rescued details from an underexposed IR image ... not forgetting the method you implied, is simply amazing. You've given the processed image the whole new outlook and the end result is most refreshing. Compositionally it may be appealing to some and perhaps not so to others!
Not only do the figures stand out wherever needed, but it also goes for the horse carriage and the tree. Very atmospheric and a learning curve ... should I say for all of us!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Gary.

Yes, a DEFINITE improvement Gary, in what you did to the image. It has certainly created an impact and improved the image vastly, giving more prominence to the dog that it needed.
Thanks also for outlining the steps you took in PS and Nik Color Efex Pro. Most helpful! |

Craig, your views greatly appreciated as regards using a low viewpoint for this type of image + the advice you offered. I must admit there was no chance of using a low angle as this dog was racing around on the beach. Also I'm in my 86th year and getting low down can become a little cumbersome!!! |
