Thanks, Kathleen. I will try a vertical and see what I think.

Wow! That's beautiful and meaningful. The bright and sharp plant in the foreground greatly overshadows the rough terrain behind it. Yes, it's definitely the story of a life overcoming hardship. I love it. With F8 focused on the flower, you got a shallow depth of field that is just right for the less focused background. |

The 3 horses in the original are wonderful and your cropping is perfect. It's unfortunate that it got so blurry in post-processing, but hopefully you can go back and do it again and keep it sharp. A fine photo otherwise. |

Terry, the water lilies are beautiful. I would like to see the lilies over to the right, rather than centered. I'd crop out some of the lily pads on the right and especially on the bottom. I'd also like to see the original. I can't tell if the oil paint effect blurred the bottom part, or if it was already blurred from the depth of field, but it's too blurry for my taste. And I think a little less vignette would look more natural. |

Good capture of the mallard duck landing. Good color, except I find the blues a bit too saturated.
Unfortunately, you cropped more than the photo could bear, resulting in blurry wings. I think it would be a better photo with much less cropping, as a horizontal image with much more space above and the left of the duck - and a little space on the right - so there's space to show where the duck came from. The bird needs flying room. |

What a lovely image! The picturesque boats are diagonally placed, a pleasing composition, and lead the eye back to the mountains. I would tone down the greens in the background - they don't look natural to me - but otherwise I like the color and brightness. It doesn't have to look like sunset, because it's not clear that it is, except for the yellow reflection which I would remove. It looks to me like a bright and lovely afternoon. |
