I edited the photo with all of your suggestions and am pleased with the result - less tight cropping, more hand, less HDR. |

Thank you, Walter. I'm pleased to be in the group. Note that the original image has been posted above.
I appreciate all the suggestions on this page. I will experiment with adding pixels on both sides and taking down the HDR a bit. |

I like the vertical image the best. Great suggestion from Mohanan. Now that I see vertical, the horizonal looks cramped - and the windows above the boat enhance the image. I would like to see a little space between the blue light and the right side, just as there is in the revised horizontal image. |

Bogdan, I'm not sure what you mean by "Picture like photo." Thank you for your suggestions to add more contrast and more of the woman's hand. |

Kathleen, thank you for your comments. Mohanan kindly added my original which was submitted late. You can see now that the image was quite dark originally, but Lightroom enabled me to lighten shadows and bring out the colors with the Vibrance and Clarity sliders. |

The border is a good suggestion, Kathleen. I'll have to remember to add that on my photos when the black disappears into the background. |

I too like the cropping to put more focus on the bird. Even with the cropping, the bird looks uniformly sharp. The light from the left gives a lovely glow to the end of the left wing and the left webbed foot. As Kathleen pointed out, the same light also blew out some detail on the bird's head, but you might be able to bring some of it back by reducing the brightness on the head and increasing the clarity. In addition, I would like to see the yellow on the head and beak brightened. |

Changing the background to black enhances the beauty of the orchid, a great post-processing decision and very well executed. You lightened the green stem and leaf just enough to make those parts add to the image. My only suggestion for future orchid shots is to leave a little more room around the flower, so you have more freedom to crop as you want. I would like to see a little more black space on the left side. |

What a beautiful image, with the colorful boat and its adjacent wall in light and shadows, and with lovely reflections for each. I too suggest cropping out the right side just before the vertical white lines, but also cropping and burning out the windows on the wall above the boat, windows that are mostly in shadow. That would give you a striking horizontal rectangle of just the best parts of the image. |

This is a beautiful image of the Alamo at night. I saw the Alamo only during the day and had no idea there was beauty there. I feel that it is perfectly exposed, with the spotlights giving a yellow glow to the building. And the HDR decision brought out the wonderful detail and dynamic range. I really don't think it needs improving, but if I have to find a suggestion to make, I guess it would be to remove the white spots on the ground in front of the Alamo. They must be bright spotlights. You also could consider removing the slash of green light at the bottom right, probably coming from another spotlight. |
