38 Sep 24 Reply Thank you Sylvia. I agree, I just always seem to back off a little when editing until I see Art and Kurtis's version and then I always agree with what they do. I just have to get a little bolder, I guess.
And thank you for taking the time to look at the PSA Showcase. I love Black Skimmers and to capture them feeding is always fun. One day a few months ago, I spent 2 1/2 hours driving to get to them, at least four hours hanging out photographing them and then 2 1/2 hours driving back home. Yup they are special on my list.

38 Sep 24 Reply Kurtis, an open eye is better most of the time but it was the blue eyelid that makes this a favorite photo of mine. I mean I never noticed a blue eye lid before. I like your edits and thank you for taking the time to do so. I find myself never doing enough but most of the time I agree with you and Art. Thank you Kurtis. Sep 21st
38 Sep 24 Reply Thank you Regine. You are not all THAT far away. What is the name of the park you love to go to? And yes, us CANON girls do have to stick together. I heard that migration started already. On Facebook someone mentioned last Sunday night there were thousands flying south through Florida already. I have to find more info about it.
I agree that Art nailed editing this photo and yes I have a great spot to hang it. I actually love the closed blue eye.

38 Sep 24 Comment Gabriele, I spent a week in Equator with lots of time shooting just hummingbirds. I agree that it is an incredible location for birds. You captured a beautiful image. I love the colors of the birds and I think Kurtis and Art did a good job darkening and toning down the background. Well done. Sep 21st
38 Sep 24 Comment I love your vision Art. I love your crop and the color and your motion all creating a one of a kind piece of art. So well done. Sep 21st
38 Sep 24 Comment Regine here is my idea for your crop. Sep 21st
38 Sep 24 Comment Great job spotting these webs Regine. I love shooting them too. They have a special glimmer, an iridescence when caught just right in the sun. If you are out really early in the morning you might catch them with water droplets that give them a really special look, rows of pearls. I would like to see this cropped a bit taking away the yellow bush and then turning to straighten. I hope you don't mind, I included a photo of my "String of Pearls" for inspiration on your next early morning walk. You are already inspiring me to get up and out early in the mornings. Sep 21st
38 Sep 24 Comment Compelling indeed. Where the heck is the lone traveler going or coming from? The mountains are beautiful with some beckoning skiers while others too rough to even walk or climb. I love all the shadows. Art's B&W and additional contrast makes this really pop. Great photo Sunandan. Sep 21st
38 Sep 24 Comment Sylvia my first impression of your original was 'Oh Wow'. I loved seeing how low the tide was and the row of houses across from the ocean and others enjoying their day in different ways. But seeing Arts version I have to agree that his crop makes a much, much stronger composition and story. It almost looks like they are in a spotlight. Great job catching the light so perfect. A real memory for the two of them. Talk about memories, it reminds me of my childhood, spending most summer weekends on the beach with Mom, Dad and my three sisters. Really nice photo. Sep 21st
38 Sep 24 Comment Kurtis you did a great job taking this photo and editing it too. At first I thought it was cropped too tight but after playing with your original I couldn't come up with anything better. It makes a strong statement cropped tight and I love his white hairs. The B&W is perfect. I might have to spend some time in a few zoo's soon. Great job! Sep 21st
