Sylvia that is something that I don't think about often but you said it perfectly. "How lucky we are to be part of such a knowledgeable and supportive group of wonderful photographers!" Thank you to you all. |

Thank you Tom. I think Art made my attempt much, much better. That's how I do it, slow shutter and quick zoom. And yes, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Lots of playing. Thanks for stopping by here also. |

You have a very creative mind Sunandan. I like all the layers of colors and the different colors and the birds in the tree and the lightning. Is the building really sinking? I don't know why but the building really does fit in this scene.
Can you tell me what you are trying to say? Is it really Doomsday? |

Sylvia a whole bunch of kudos to you for being out there on this stormy day and special kudos to the artist too. I love everything you did and then Art took what you did and just gave it a little more punch. You must have had a vision to see what this could be when you took the photo. "The Old Painter and the Sea" Very nicely done.
I will be ready when the next storm rolls around down here in Florida. |

Kurtis, I have heard some wonderful things about Cade's Cove so I am not surprised to see this beautiful scene. I can't figure out if there is a storm brewing in the background or smoke from a fire. Interesting but I decided to make it more of a panorama and take the background away and leave these beautiful deer and turkeys in the field. What do you think?

Art, you have an incredible gift for seeing what can be done with a photo. This B&W made this a totally different "story". I wouldn't be surprised if Riptide paid you dearly for the photo rights. Its an extremely powerful photo of their top of the line fishing reel. So, so, so well done.

A beautiful dome Gabriel. A "splendid" capture that makes me want to see the entire Church. I love your composition, its different than everyone else's photos. Well done especially being inside.

Hi Regine. I love that you are going on a field trip. Where will it be. First, the older Canon 100-400mm lens does have a problem shooting at 400mm. Just back off maybe to 390mm should fix the problem. If your lens is the newer 100-400mm there should be no problem. Its tack sharp from 100-400mm. Try these setting... f8 to f11, 1/1600 to 1/3200 sec., and AUTO ISO. And your metering mode on "spot".
Regine, I have had a lot of luck with these settings but my camera is 80D or 90D or even a 60D. I don't know how this will work with the 7D but yeck, give a try.
Stop by at these other Bird Groups to see what they are shooting at ... 21, 46, 91 ans 97.
Good luck and let me know if I can help. |

Hi Tom! Well, this is certainly different and certainly no way a boring no impact shot. I say go for it. My only worry would be a micro-macro shot that might steal the show. Good luck and let me know what happens.

Hi Tom! I saw your photo and know it well, yet I have not had the chance to see it in person. It's a very attractive lighthouse to shoot for sure. Your colors are beautiful and the clouds are framing the lighthouse perfectly. Nicely done.
Sorry to say I played with a little. The first way I just squared it to get rid of a little heaviness with the bushes and trees. The second way was a quick flip which makes the leading line of the coast bring my eye into the photo a little more than the original. I know, I know ... it's a famous photo that should not be changed but as I said I just had to play a little. I love Maine.

Oh a Floridan. You must know Joe Overstreet? That's where I was lucky with this photo but it's always hit and miss these past few years. You just never know what you might get. I do know the Circle B but I certainly didn't know anything about any trails that you described with your last months photo. A littler further west there is a pair of Florida Whooping Cranes and they are there each time I have headed that way. Gainesville should be a nice place for wildlife. Thanks again for stopping by.

Hi Tom! Thank you so much for your very nice comments. It was very exciting to say the least. It is a non-venomous Florida banded water snake. Do you get to Florida at all?

Bruce, I can see why it would be a favorite to photograph. It is just beautiful. The colors are gorgeous and great timing with its wings up high as if it is standing still looking for a mouse. Great job with the depth of field too. Well done Bruce. |

Good for you Steve for anticipating just what the GBH was going to do and for you waiting as long as you did to get the shot. Very nicely done with the tips up and the shot from above. Your did a good job with editing also. I am sure it will look great on the walls of the winery. |

Scruffy indeed. Cindy, I have not taken the plunge yet buying a mirrorless. It sounds like it might be a real learning curve or am I reading to much into it? I do love the depth of field and editing is perfect, just brightened enough. Watching birds as much as I do I always find their gait to be so funny and this shot proves it once again. Great angle, certainly looks like your down on the ground. Great shot. |

Adrian its hard to believe that this was taken in North Iceland, at least in my mind. It's so calm. I would think the ocean even in a bay, in this part of the world would be rough and violent. I like your composition. Leaving plenty of space gave it even more peacefulness. Its sharp and well done. |
