Thank you Regine for all your comments. I just didn't know how much I should push the white background. I do like the tint of blue and a little more of the osprey feather detail showing. As far as shutter speed . . . I was accidentally shooting in aperture priority instead of my usual shutter priority for birds. I am surprise it came out as well as it did. Must be because I was shooting from my car with the lens resting on the door. LOL |

Thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions Kurtis. One more please ... Art and you both "exaggerated" the high key effect which I think looks really good. It makes more or a statement than my photo does. In your opinion if my photo was in a contest would it be considered enough of the high-key effect? Or should it always be finished up like you and Art did? |

Thank you Kurtis for your comments. I have to ask you a few questions if you don't mind. You say "how you processed it"... My photo above is straight from the camera. Did you think I did more to the photo after? Is that what you mean by "processed it"?
And you version looks just like Art's version. What did you do differently?
And after I thought I caught a high-key photo in my camera, am I suppose to edit it more on the computer? Is that needed for all high-key photos?
I hope you have the time to reply. Thanks. |

Hi Sunandah. Thank you for your comments.
I understand not being able to "change" the background but would it not be allowed if I created this high key image in the camera and not on the computer?
And yes, Art's rule of thirds works very well. I wish I noticed my mistake while shooting. Would this rule of thirds be allowed to be changed in Wild life section? |

Well Art this is a whole new world. Is this coloration due to the neutral density filter? However you did it, I really like it. The color alone adds so much to the fact this is beach volleyball. I also very much like your original shot especially because of the circle frame. Well done artist Art!

Syliva between Regine's, Kurtis', Art's and your very artistic, out of the ordinary photos this month I am going to have to up my game for sure. I thought this might have been a double exposure like I did with Kurtis'photo but you surprised me. I love reflections and there are so many ways to play with them but if I didn't see the original I never would have guessed what you did. As I said very creative and thinking out of the box. Well done. |

Kurtis, this is stunning. I never would have guessed fireworks. Something from the deep was more likely in my mind.
I came up with all kinds of scenarios of "how you did it" too. I thought a double exposure for sure. I do like Art's stretch also. Nicely done.

Regine you certainly made me study this a bit more before I could figure out what it could be, and isn't that what makes people look deeper and differently into your photos? So many shapes and so many textures and it all comes together with the rain and the wet stone. Well thought out Regine.
Art's idea of flipping also made for a very interesting photo and I like the "gold" a bit brighter too. |

Thank you Cindy. I have tried it once or twice while out shooting and of course that didn't go to well. So practice is exactly what I need. I am guessing you are also saying that it is well worth the effort.

I guess Jerry that's what makes the world go round, right?
~ I do think this is a worthy photo to have taken; An endangered female snail kite flying in to land on a branch with a snail in it's beak, up bet! The problem is that I wasn't able to get the eye in focus, the focus is on the right corner of the tail. My focal length was set at 400 mm. |

Wow, lucky you. You got your the timing down perfect. Of course the colors are outstanding with the blue sky and the orange beak. I happen to like your composition and crop showing the faint outline of the Toucan's tail behind the leaves. Well done Cindy. |

Nicely done Adrian. The composition is good with your crop showing exactly what is going on. You certainly caught a perfect moment. The color and sharpness are well done as well. I am looking forward to seeing more of your photos from lands I have never traveled. |

Great capture Sanat. My first time seeing this beautiful owl and I love knowing now, that its a world-wide traveler. I think your composition is well done especially from a Jeep and the eye color is mesmerizing. |

Bruce I love this shot. Great composition with the Pectoral Sandpiper walking along, staring right at you. The blurred background was nicely done and the color made me wonder where you caught this shore bird. The high stepping front leg and the sharpness make it perfect. |

Jerry you did a great job with the background, blurring it till is disappeared. Well done. The brightness of the colors on the body of the European Starling looks like its a little "too bright"in my opinion. The composition is good but just a little tight. And getting it to sing is tops. |

Hi Cindy, thank you for your help with this photo. Your edits have given me many ideas to play with. I would never think of changing the white balance. I thought the auto white balance in the camera was suppose to do the best job and yet your blue sky makes a huge difference already. I will try to work on my photo with your ideas for practice. Thanks for you thoughts.

Thank you Bruce for taking the time to respond. Back button focus is something I need to learn more about. I have only played with it a few times and clearly you make a good point that this could have been better by using it. |
