Craig, I just saw a show about Winter in Yellowstone and they mentioned about the very large number of bison that die because of the harsh winters. Your information added even more about their hardship. Your composition makes me feel their struggle of climbing the hill in the high snow, exactly what you where looking to do. I like it the way you shot it.

Gabreile, I can only ditto what Gerhard and Art said. Love the colors and composition and whatever Art did almost makes the photo look like it's 3D. Very nice!

My goodness Gerhard, you certainly do get to some very interesting areas to shoot. This one is really great and it almost makes me laugh at how the young hippo got so scared. Certainly in the right spot... the composition is great. I thing the cropping that Art suggested is a good idea too.

Art when I was growing up it was sand hills we played King of the Hill on! ;)
The composition is really nice. With seven guys on one twig it would seem that is should be slumped over. I don't know anything about these lubber grasshoppers, why are they all trying to get to the top.
A very interesting photo indeed.

Kerstin what a wonderful capture. That's being in the right place at the right time and congratulations on being chosen as the special reader's photo of the week.
The more detail on the mother's face is a good idea and the increased saturation brings out how thick their coats are. Nice one!

Thank you Art and Gerhard for your comments. What a difference it made to brighten the image Art. The contrast made a huge effect. I thought it was good until I saw your fixes.
