Under the lighting circumstances, you managed to have a sharp image with nice white balance. What I found distracting is that the face of the lady is darker than the white part of her dress. I would reverse that at any cost.
Further to the technicalities, your shot is fantastic, it tells a story and it tells it well. As far as the cropping is concerned, I can’t decide on your cropping of the drinking vessels.

Your diagonal composition adds some dynamics that were needed in a picture like that, very good idea! The structure of the sand is also well worked out. Unfortunately, the main subject is not so interesting. |

It makes a good post card. Good work with the elk; it adds to the picture and it fits well with the line of the river. You could probably crop from the bottom. |

Nice job! Lines and composition couldn’t be better. I also liked a lot your fine-tuning on the colors.
For my taste, if you had been luckier to have the engineer more apparent in the scene, it would have been the perfect train photo.
