70 Mar 17 Reply Thank you, Kathryn, for your ideas.
I hope you enjoy your a6000 as much as I do.

70 Mar 17 Reply Thank you, Judy, for your usual set of excellent suggestions. I am glad that you enjoyed the image.

When I saw this golden hour, as noted above, I started "doing things." I tried different compositions, different f-stop/shutter speed combinations, and different ISO's. It was a great opportunity to experiment.

As I searched for an image to share this month, I settled on this set of images and, specifically, on this image. I did so because this image told the story of the golden hour in the clouds and it made me happy. I understand your framing, shutter speed, and depth of field ideas, which are excellent, and keep me focused, going forward.

Thank you, also, for the Spyder5 recommendation AND the tip for testing my lens.

70 Mar 17 Reply Thank you for the ideas of what you do. I will need to try something similar.

I am glad that you followed the photographer's rule of "if you do not see something interesting, turn around." A 90 degree turn led to a phenomenal image.

70 Mar 17 Comment Well done.

This image reminds me that I need to plan and visualize before setting up. I tend to be one who wants to capture the "right now...and be quick about it." However, slowing down and taking a breath or two is always a good thing.

I really like the zooming effect.

70 Mar 17 Comment Wow! As I sit at my computer and look at this image, I want to reach for a rain cover and step back so that I can stay dry. Well done.

I noticed the reflection and thought it was interesting that you left it in. After all, that water has to go somewhere, so why not on the land side of the lighthouse.

I wonder if there is too much blue sky in the image. Personally, I tend to leave full beautiful blue sky, but have received a number of suggestions to reduce the amount I include.

70 Mar 17 Comment What a beautiful fall day. I just want to jump into a convertible and follow that road to wherever.

Well done.

70 Mar 17 Comment What a gorgeous image! It encourages me to make the trip "out West" to create similar images.

Personally, I assume this image is what you saw. Therefore, you must be happy. On balance, the others' idea about adjusting some of the black/dark areas in the lower right is good as well. I wonder what a before and after as is/adjusted comparison would look like to you.

70 Mar 17 Comment This image is just wonderful!

It reminded me of why I love to go to the beach -- such great sunrises. It just makes me happy(...and a little jealous).

70 Mar 17 Reply Thank you for your ideas and recommendation.

I, too, prefer "reality" -- that which I saw.

In this case, I was focusing on the clouds and really did not crop at all. I exported the full 6000 x 4000 image into the Group's submission requirements, but did not notice any loss of image. In addition, I thought about decreasing the blacks and/or shadows for the bottom. However, I wanted the bottom to be somewhat dark to act as a framing element as well as to provide an insight to relative sizes.

I am looking into the Spyder5 for monitor calibration.

70 Mar 17 Reply Thank you for sharing your happiness.

I am looking into Spyder5Pro for calibration purposes.

70 Mar 17 Reply Thank you for your insights.

You are right about foreground elements and I usually include them. In this case, I was too high to able reasonably to include any. Further, my focus was on the clouds and their color.

I looked in Lightroom, as you suggested. I found that Lightroom is assigning ProPhoto to external editors, but Acrobat was not listed among them.
