Thank you, Kathryn, for your insight.
I, too, agree about the lines and poles.
Upon another review and reflection on tree location comments, I remembered that my focus was on the sky and not on the tree. Therefore, my first thoughts were to keep as much sky as possible.
We are really lucky to be able to share comments with one another, which allows us all to grow. |

Hi Judy,
Thank you for your time and detailed comments.
This information is provided for context. In short, I was walking around with the camera in my hand and this image showed up. (As you know with sunrises and sunsets, the photographer needs to be quick or miss the image). My tripod was close but not in my other hand. Time was running short and my friend and I needed to get back to our "other lives."
I like the cropping idea. Personally, I would have cropped on the right, letting more sunrise show. Of course, doing so would have made the image more "rule of thirds - ish" rather than more closely rule of thirds, as your cropping is.
Your advice is exactly the type of care and concern that I need so that I can improve continuously. Many of the ideas you and others have shared are starting to "stick" in my head as my eye is at the view finder and/or when I am working in LR and PS. I really appreciate them. |

I love the color in the sky. Good job.
I like the serenity in the marina.
I like the God - human balance between the sky color on the left and the masts/antennae/poles on the right.
The leading line to the left (the color) is well done. |

I like this image very much.
The colors are real to me. The interest in the near, middle, and far is excellent. The leading lines to the rainbows are well done.
Good job. |

I love the image. The leading lines are great; the sunset is wonderful with its shadows on the beach. The varying colors show the glory in this sunset.
Thanks for telling me about the ship at the end of the pier.
I really like my Sony a6000. I understand what you mean by missing your Sony a6300. But...
"The best camera is the one you have with you."
Great job. |

I am glad that the people were able to get back to work. I am glad you were able to capture this moment. I wonder if the Captain would like a copy as a memento or for some other reason.
I like the composition and the boat's motion. I wonder if the horizon line is flat, but you are the judge. It reminds me of my time on a Navy ship and having to compensate for the ship's motion. |

I like the composition a good deal. For some reason, I really LIKE the clouds at the extreme right of the image.
I love blue; I know this time is sunrise. I get the sense that I need a jacket, because it is cold. I wonder if it is too blue/cold.
On the other hand, you were there and the image makes you happy.
Good job. |

Hmmm...
Thanks for your thoughts, Tom.
This image is another illustration of making the best image possible with the location as it is.
The image is a little too blue for me because of the clouds (particularly on the right). I tried some cropping before settling on using the entire image itself. The cropping did nothing, so I just forgot it.

Thank you, Lamar, for your reflections and kind thoughts.
You are correct, it was a little challenging to make the adjustments without losing the sense of natural/real. |
