I purposely left that spot to see how "good" you guys are. I bet you can't find the monkey in the trees. |

A very interesting technique. When I first saw your pic, I couldn't figure out how you achieved the lines of light from the tree.I never saw this done and I think it's a great effect. It's not something you would try often, but it makes a very special xmas tree.Could you be more specific about how you zoomed in and out. Did you zoom in one direction or back and forth, How rapidly did you zoom. I love the result. |

Hi Mikeā¦Not much more you could have done to this simple photo. Ah, but the mystery. Looking at your bio and seeing your a good old Texan, Guessed Alamo and then I noticed the bullet holes.I thought the photo might have been taken by Mathew Brady but the wooden cross is quite aged, so it must be more current.
Can't figure out whats missing????? |

Your photo of what I imagine is st marks square has the potential to be an excellent shot, but you can't always avoid the obstacles. The horse in the foreground is very distracting and the low angle does not work well with the background buildings. Sometimes we need a crew with ladders and ropes, so that the camera can see what
you as the photographer hopes to get. It's never that easy. |

Your black background turns an ordinary picture into an eye catching photo. Nice job of recovering the missing highlight detail in the original. pretty, pretty, pretty |

Nice job of rescuing a drab photo. I also noted the overall large sky replacement. That can be easily corrected for a more natural effect. I would like to see a little more correction of the perspective of the building. I don't see any of the color fringing you refer to, but this can usually be corrected in PS using lens corrections under Filters.
There are several sliders that enable you to remove this chromatic aberration. It's a little tricky but it is visual and takes a little practice. Camera Raw has a similar filter under lens corrections. |
