Thanks Ian. I told Karen that I could live in Scotland or Ireland. Great scenery and no road rage! |

Ian from my experience this is a well composed image with good technical attributes. For me, I love the leading line of the edge of the water and the trees from the lower right. The softness of the trees keeps my eye fixated on the boat in the men's standing on the back. This also invokes thoughts of what the day must've been like on such a beautiful boat ride. Good job! |

Erik, to my eye the man with the cigar is the fixation point in the image. Is he on a break? Is he the boss? Invokes a lot of thoughts. I do like the composition of the image with the four people hard at work. Brightness and color appear to be spot on and to add to the quality of the final image. Can you tell me what the green "vice- like" wheels at the back or for? I'll look forward to seeing the article. |

An additional piece for the history lesson. As we all know, the declaration of independence was signed by the continental Congress on July 4, 1776 or thereabouts. The constitution of the United States was ratified, approved by the ninth of 13 states in June 1788. The statue, of course, was not cast until almost 100 years later.
I'm going to go the other way than Erik. There's a real neat chart around and I'll send you a copy if you don't have it of acceptable places to cut off a body in an image. I believe this is not one of them. I do feel that you could've gotten the same diagonal by removing the head shot and both street lamps and allowing the car on the bridge to be the diagonal. It's not really the item you'd want, but I think it also provides the line. |

Isaac, very nicely done. In addition to being good composition, this image seems to have at least two traits that I can see that are unusual. But they also make the image better in my opinion. The first is that often something at the edge of the frame can be a distraction. But to me the post in the lower right helps add to the image and lead my eye down the destroyed pier. In most cases, a light can give harsh color to the image, especially at this time of day. But I believe that this light adds color to the wood and increases the technical quality of the image. It works well with the colors in the sky. Well done! |

Vella, you did an excellent job in post bringing out the detail at the end of thus room. For my eye this makes a huge difference as it fixes my view after you have led me down the rows of barrels. Very very well done! |

Nicely done Bill, your patience paid off. The complementary blues and yellows along with the incredible sky make this a very compelling image. Well done. |
