Excellent job changing the station to a Christmas scene. You successfully used several post tools to make for a very nice Christmas Card. I have never checked PS or DxO but I know On1 has an overlay for falling snow (if you have that SW) that makes it very easy. I constantly enjoy your creativity with both camera and iPhone. Keep them coming. Best wishes to you and your wife. Have a blessed and happy holiday. |

Guy, you certainly have overcome many obstacles to get this completed image. I certainly hope that you conquer the back problem in time to enjoy the holidays.
To my eye this is a superb image quality of being framed and hung on the wall. I feel that your decision to capture the band of fog adds a layer, and more importantly, a "mood" to the image. You got great depth of field out of an f/7.1 setting with everything I can see being sharp. For me the water, the lower houses and the fog lead my eye right to the fixation point of the castle. Very well done!
Happy Holidays! |

Ian, it is not often that you see someone wearing more on their head than they have on their body! Quite interesting?
Now on to the picture! From my experience this image is well done from the standpoint of Brightness, DoF (my eye fixes well on the performer with the softer background) and Sharpness. I like the idea of dropping the shadows.
To my eye her head is well positioned at the 2/3rd's point. I believe that two improvements, as far as drawing the viewer's eye into the image, might have been to position so that her leg cam out of the lower left corner of the image and her right hand stop short of the edge of the frame.
Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays! |

Isaac, a very good setup. I did not realize until I opened this on a 27" monitor that the artist and his shadow were at the bottom of the image. To my eye a good capture with the right exposure and sharpness.
Now my question for you as an expert judge is this. This seems to be a Photo-Journalism candidate but could you enter it with some one else's artwork in the image (assuming you did not get a written permission?)
Either way, a very creative image. Thanks for sharing it. |

That is a very good comment, Bill. That of course, is the white line at the edge of the road. But based on your comment, I believe I will go in and reduce the brightness of that line. Hopefully that will make it less of a distraction. Thanks again. |

Vella, in many ways I agree with Isaac. I also feel, based on my experience that you kept the wrong part of the image. In my VF I have left all of the water and cropped out a portion of the sky. My "tweaks" were to reduce the contrast in the sky which actually added more detail. I increased the contrast in the water and lightened the shadows to see more detail there. I also point selected the green foliage and lightened it plus point selected the blue in the water and slightly saturated it. The is what I came up with. |

Erik, I like the story line. They are definitely communicating something. For me it is also interesting to note how closely the winter coloring of the sheep matches the color of the background brush. Nature has a way of providing protection. I feel that you have well captured the image - good DoF and sharpness. |
