Isaac, you and I agree completely. I have come to that realization and am going to work on reducing it by about 25%. Thanks for verifying what my eye is telling me. |

Your images are always well composed so I am not surprised at those VHC's! |

Bill, what most people - those who were not at Madera Canyon - will not appreciate is this. Not only did you perfectly stop this hummer, but you did it with absolutely none of the distracting bright spots that were in the background. Good choice of where to set up and what camera conditions to use. I was using shutter speeds at times as high as 1/6400 seconds to stop the wings. What SS were you using for this one? How many different species did you get while there? I managed to get 4 at Madera and another out in the Sonoran desert. Thanks for sharing. |

Ian, there is much to like in this image. First, for me the bright colors in the dancer's outfit catch and hold my eyes. Second, the sharpness of the image adds to the effect. Third, the way the colors of the dress work with the browns in the floor. Lastly, I feel that that solid black background helps to keep my eyes on the dancer alone. I just wonder what the image would look like if you had captured the entire reflection of the dancer. Well done. Have you entered this in any exhibitions? Would love to know how it has done? |

Very nicely captured Isaac. I think you have well brought out the detailing in the floor, walls as well as the altar area. I feel that even the lower legs showing makes me stop and think about why she was there? was she praying or just listening? And wondering what was going through her mind as you were taking the picture. Very thought provoking image, thanks for sharing. |

Guy, this is a very appealing image to me. I have always liked the variety of colors seen in local villages in Europe that is all too often missing in the U.S. To my eye the image appeals even more as a panorama. To that end I cropped down from the top and boosted the contrast of the mid and fore grounds. This is what I got.
P.S. Your translation is correct (I took German in High School - Ich habe im Gymnasium Deutsch gelearnt). Perhaps some day I'll do a river cruise (but next year is Scotland and Ireland.) |

Vella, to my eye you have done an excellent job of bringing the features of the capybaras. I do feel that the image might have more of a story if you could have left some of the distant shore in the final picture. |

Yes, you are correct we have covered the gamut. To me, if I see this and reads this right, you did a good job in PP by darkening the sky. That said I am then assuming that the light one the Cacti is natural but you have left this viewer with the impression (w/o your explanation) That you used a flat to illuminate the cacti. I hope that make sense? As always you are the master craftsman! |
