4 Apr 24 Comment Ian, as the others have stated, I also hope that your wife Lesley is recovering quickly from the eye ulcer. It did provide you with a unique opportunity to get this image. Based on the timeframe that you mentioned, and looking at the plane, I am guessing that it is similar to the US Navy F4 phantom that was used in Vietnam. I assume this is a quite versatile, and probably quite deadly, aircraft. Thanks for sharing this piece of history. Apr 7th

4 Apr 24 Comment Guy I have three thoughts - the third in line with my note back to you when you sent the picture.

First, a good image makes the viewer stop and think. It provides a hook. Thinking about all this clutter lead me to my second thought.

Second, late in my Kodak career I was trained by Toyota Sensei's to find ways to be not just effective but to maximize efficiency. The hook got me to wondering if there aren't some (perhaps many) ways they could use this kit and still not create even a temporary eyesore.

And of course my third thought, The Normans stirrups (which many historians attribute the victory to) would not have been as effective if the Saxons had been able to duck behind these large plastic bins. I can see the Monte Python crew playing with this idea! lol

4 Apr 24 Comment Erik, you are "the Master." To be there is one thing. To get this shot right is quite another. Not long ago I watched a 45 minute Matt Koslowski video. His images were of two eagles fighting in mid-air. His major theme of the talk was "know where to stand." To my eye you have certainly done just that. The capture of the neck and head crossing over from one leg to the other is exceptional. You should be very proud of this one my friend. Apr 4th
4 Apr 24 Reply Vella, the day after I shot that picture, a man capsized his boat in that very water, and decided to swim back to the dock. Before he made it, an American crocodile took off one of his feet! Not an area where I'd want to do any boating myself! Apr 3rd
4 Apr 24 Comment Bill, panning is not an easy task especially with the pro bike riders. I feel that for a first attempt, between the capture and the post-processing, you got a pretty good result. I wonder, did you do any experimenting with slower shutter speeds, which of course require more precise panning? I would be interesting if you try it again to see how slow you can go.

It seems that you and I follow a very similar post-processing regime. From my experience everything you did has added to the original capture.

PS My image from last month got acceptances and an HM in the Four Chapter exhibition.

4 Apr 24 Comment Vella, this composition certainly gives the viewer an appreciation of the immense space in the English farmlands. I believe that your pos work certainly improved the image. I think I would have taken out the road sign and the sheep on the left as they seem to be a distraction for my eye. Thanks for sharing. Apr 3rd
4 Apr 24 Comment This is a great title for this picture. I find it to be well composed. For me not only is the placement of the dried shaft and its shadow important; also I feel the uniformity of the snow adds to the quality of the image. In the evaluation of PSA scholarship images we ask ourselves if the image evokes an emotion or causes you to stop and consider. I believe that this does both. Apr 3rd
