Ian, you picked up on one thing that struck me as well - every player is watching the puck. I feel that really helps any viewer end up focusing on the goalie. Thanks for the feedback. |

The first thing was to clone out the black steel spike using the cloning tool. Then I used the PS magnetic lasso to go across the nearer ground line then up along the right side of the foghorns on the left to the top. I went across the top and down the right side to comp[lete the selection. I made a "Layer via copy." Then I shifted it all to the right. Since the angle of the side of the lighthouse is complete I rebuilt the missing sections of the LH from the complete bottom white and black sections. Lastly I cloned the sky from the right of the LH to the left of the lighthouse. I hope that helps. |

Vella, I like what you have done with the image. To my eye the change in the Hue of the blocks helps bring them out more as the true subject of the image.
From my experience I tried three things in the Visual Feedback. First (and this is the most important from experience) I cropped to make as many lines as possible flow out of the corners of the image. Second I add a Contrast layer in PS to the blocks to make them stand out even more. Last, I added a Hue/Saturation layer to the bright yellow building to make it less likely to draw the viewers eyes. All three just there for thought. Thanks for sharing this image. Happy Holidays! |

Ian, there is a lot to like about this image. I feel that you have done a credible job of
placing the young lady in front of the door given the shadows to her left. I believe that her being brighter than the door helps hold my eyes' focus point on her.
For my taste I would reduce the brightness on her a bit, perhaps making her a bit more "mysterious." I might also suggest that if you have original image at the bottom of the current that you extend a bit farther to fully connect her left arm to the body.
Given that you have not done this much previously I would say you are off to a good start. Happy Holidays! |

Bill, very nicely done and visually pleasing. My original thought when I examined both images was that I would have cloned out the big base of the near pillar put the water level at the original ground level. But the more I look at it the more I think you did the right thing. Raising the water level helped remove the bright spot at the right side of the image. This is a very pleasing combination of several images. |

Guy, I did something with that iron post for you! To my eye that eliminates a huge distraction that was pulling my eye away from "the party." The lighthouse and foghorns on the left side,
To me this "perspective" image gets better when you separate the lighthouse from the foghorns as I did in the VF. In my mind it really makes one wonder how big those fog horns really are!
I like this image and what you were after. It was fun to play with as well. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays! |

Erik, you truly are a master of bird photography. Above and beyond the camera settings you know where to go, when to go, where to stand and when to shoot. I look forward to more trips with you to continue to learn from the "sensei!"

Isaac as you said, three really great images from iPhones this month. For me, I love the reflection of both the tree and the sky in the water on the beach. I believe this really adds to the foreground. I took the liberty of getting rid of some of the small distracting branches at the left edge of the picture. That keeps my eye from drifting to the edge. Nice shot! |

I know what you mean about the changes in business policy. When I was at EK accepting a gift of any kind from a customer or supplier was Taboo. Then at Ohio State - no one cared! Different world. Now I have no connection either way, just a close friend. I buy dinner and he provides the seats Oh, BTW thanks for the suggestion on the skate marks. Looking forward to doing some shooting with you in Florida this winter. |
