Bill, here it is with the far bank a bit darker, a bit more saturated and a bit sharper. |

Guy, I feel you did a good job in transitioning from color to monochrome. To me you have achieved good tonal contrast between the sky and the water. As I look at it, the big cloud above the ship didn't't do you any favors. I think that the smaller type clouds seen in the background would not steal the viewers eye (as it does mine to some degree) away from the ship. Very nice sharpness and detail on the ship's super-structure. |

Well Done Ian! To me a great result for a fir`st attempt at minimalizing. The lines out of the corner to me are perfect. The shafts leaves (I guess) are sharp. No distractions or variations in the black background. And to eye the eye border sets it off AND holds the eye in the image. Let me know if you enter in PIDM and how it does. Looks like a winner! |

Bill, this is an excellent image on several levels. First, it is an image that almost no one else has - it is unique and that makes it special. Second, I feel that the leading lines of the floor and the chandeliers lead my eye from the first and largest light into the heart of the picture and the far archway. Third, I believe (without checking) that you have nicely covered the tonal range.
If I was to make one small suggestion it would be to put the image in PS and Edit/Transform/Distort and pull the bottom of the left-side arch support so that is was totally vertical. I think that this change is minor enough that nothing else will distort to the eye. I love this! |

Erik, I love this image and the first thing it "screams" to me is "Monochrome." I don't know if you enter PIDM but this would make a wonderful image from my experience. To my eye you have three sets of leading lines - the bricks, the stairs and the shadows. If you can get good tonal contrast out of the greenery that would be an added bonus. Nice Job! |

Isaac, great catches on the bond pattern and the variation in spacing of the steps. |

Vella, I really like what you did in post work with the pigeon and the bricks. To me it really brings out the intense look on the bird's face and the deep rich color of the bricks. To my eye the vertical brick on top also adds some character. Using the original I cropped a bit less to get this look. |

Isaac, this is an awesome tribute. We take these creatures for granted. We get pleasure from them but give little thought to the fact that they are not living free. It is good that some like yourself pay tribute to what they have done. Thanks for sharing this. |

Guy, if you mean taking the shot vertically that was my original intention when I arrived there in the morning. As you might guess that gives you more bridge and less far bank. In the end I preferred the horizontal for more balance in content. I hope that makes sense. |
