Thanks Bill. It's a very constructive comment. I will decrease the brightness with a very soft brush so as to leave no edges. Thanks again.

Guy, let me know how On1 works for that type of change. I have On1 as well but have never tried that sort of conversion. |

Ian, I agree with Guy's assessment. I believe this is a great action shot captured at the exact right moment. To my eye your choice of shutter speed was good for freezing the lead boat and the DOF is right for keeping the trailing boat out of focus. I think this allows the viewer's eyes to lock in on the intended subject and not be distracted by the trail boat. I'd enter this if I had it! Good Luck! |

Erik, I think that we all have a picture of Palouse, many from Steptoe Butte. Your's however, is one of the most unique I have seen. To my eye the "sweep" of the rolling hills does an excellent job and blending the green and yellow portions of the image with more "monotone" portion. The colors are to my eye very natural. This should be a winning image. |

Vella, for me, this picture brings back memories of childhood, vacations and places I would like to go. I believe that you've done a great job and composition. I like the way you have brought out the colors of the orange and yellow trees in the post processing work.
To my eye the luminance of the green pines could be brought back a bit. I also feel that in the post processing adjustments the lake has gone a bit more green than it really should be. From my experience, I would try masking all but the water and then re-adjusting the lake color a bit back towards blue.
Thanks for sharing this lovely image.

Guy, PS is an awesome tool. In the VF I have removed the trash bins and made the right side vertical with respect to the windows in the nearest building. Tell me what you think. |

Guy, for me this image tells a great story of life in Lincoln and also makes me think about all the objects and buildings I see in the image. The leaning lamppost and the trash bin add to the story this tells. To my eye the exposure, the contrast and the depth of field are perfect for this image.
I am wondering from your cropping comment if you removed anything on the left side of the image. If you did, from my experience, I would say that having the entire trash bin in the picture would be less distracting.
Great "Story" picture. |

For me there are several strong points to this image. First, I feel that in "cathedral" architecture details and sharpness are incredibly important and this image has both from top to bottom. Secondly, I believe that the right contrast is also a key factor. To my eye this image has exceptional contrast.
The third area that I think is critically important is composition - specifically being exactly on center in the image. As I see it this is the one weakness in this image. It can be seen most prominently in the hanging light and in the difference in the two triangles at the top of the image.
Perhaps using PS "Edit" "Transform" "Distort" command the latter of the two could be improved.
Very nice image. |

I've always said that in America, you can be really good at some thing and make millions of dollars, or you can be really good at something and make next to no money at all.
To me, this guy looks like he's enjoying himself, and that may be more than the money is worth. Did he really throw the sword up in the air and then let it go straight down?
Truly amazing! Thanks for sharing. |
